BLACK-ON-WHITE BEATING REVENGE FOR MICHAEL BROWN?

Police don't suspect 'hate crime' in mob attack on U.S. Marine

Police are investigating a brutal beating at a Mississippi restaurant that some are calling revenge for the killing of black teen Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.

A verbal alternation between two white men and up to seven black men began at a West Point, Mississippi, Waffle House shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday.

The restaurant’s management warned the two groups to “take it outside” and the two whites, Ralph Weems and David Knighten, left the scene after words were exchanged. About an hour later, the men stopped at a Huddle House restaurant and realized they had been followed by “about 20 people,” according to a local TV station. The verbal confrontation resumed and, this time, it turned violent.

When police arrived at the Huddle House about 2:10 a.m., they found Weems, a 32-year-old former Marine, lying in the parking lot severely beaten. Two men were bent over Weems trying to render aid, police said, but all of the beating suspects were gone. Weems was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo where he underwent emergency brain surgery, according to a family member, and was put into a medically induced coma.

“They’re going to try and wake him up tomorrow and see what damage was done,” Bradley Barnes told the Associated Press, describing his brother-in-law as a former Marine who served in Iraq.

Weems was listed in fair condition Sunday, according to a hospital spokeswoman. His friend, Knighten, an Air Force veteran, was also beaten and received less severe injuries. He was treated and released.

Knighten told AP he and Weems had gone to a Waffle House early Saturday. He said a man waved him over outside the restaurant and warned him that people were upset by the killing of 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and it wasn’t a safe place for whites. He went inside anyway, he said, and saw Weems arguing with some of the men.

They left after an argument that brought police, Knighten said. He told AP he showed those officers his .45-caliber handgun and his concealed carry permit.

Police Chief Tim Brinkley told WND it remains unclear if all of the parties were involved in both incidents at the Waffle House and later at the Huddle House. Witnesses on the scene were interviewed but were unable to give any details leading to the identity of the aggressors, but videotape from surveillance cameras at both restaurants is being studied, Brinkley said.

“The witnesses described the aggressors as a group of black males but couldn’t provide any other information,” according to a police statement. “The victim of the assault is white.”

Weems and Knighten were at Waffle House and got into an argument “with as many as seven men,” Brinkley told WND.
Local WCBI-TV reported the incident “involved some racial slurs.”

But Brinkley was hesitant to label the incident as racially motivated. He said his investigation has turned up no evidence of racial slurs, and if slurs were used, that does not automatically qualify the case as a hate crime.

“And right now we are investigating it as an aggravated assault, not a hate crime. We know there’s an aggravated assault, we don’t know that the actions and the evidence will support a hate crime, but if we get enough evidence to support that then we can amend the charges at that time,” Brinkley said in a phone interview Monday.

“But for now it’s just an aggravated assault. Just because the suspects are black and the victim was white, on the face of it, does not mean that it was a hate crime. But if it appears it was a hate crime as we get further into the investigation, then we will treat it as such.

“It’s very early in this investigation, but thus far the evidence and statements suggest that a verbal altercation turned physical and somebody got hurt.”

Others were not as sanguine.

“There is an enormous amount of racial hostility seeping into more and more of our everyday activities,” said Colin Flaherty, a journalist who has chronicled in his book, “White Girl Bleed A Lot,” black-on-white violence and how the mainstream media tends to downplay or ignore such crimes.

Flaherty said the Mississippi incident seems to be a clear case of black men targeting a couple of white restaurant patrons, almost killing one of them.

“The local papers say it was a fight. It was not. The local restaurant where the assault took place told everyone to ‘take it outside,’” Flaherty said.

Flaherty sees another case of “Routine Activity Theory” or RAT, which he says leads to white people being subjected to violence when they enter black neighborhoods.

“This was true before Ferguson and after,” he told WND. “But local and national media do not report black-on-white racial violence, putting people like this in an enormous amount of danger because they are not aware of the peril of going into certain places and certain times.”

In Chicago over the weekend, there were two police-related shootings.

“During at least one of the shootings, the crowd taunted and attacked the police. Shouting ‘hands up, don’t shoot,’” Flaherty said. “But still, we learn from reporters at Ferguson and other places that the problem is white racist violence directed at innocent teenagers like Michael Brown. Spike Lee says there is a war on black people.”

A preliminary investigation has revealed officers were also called to the Waffle House restaurant an hour earlier involving the same victim, according to the police statement.

One witness provided a vehicle description, and police are working on identifying the owner.

Flaherty said that until reporters are willing to identify black-on-white crime, the problem of racial violence “will only get worse.”
“And today, racial violence is reaching a new level: Reporters used to just ignore it, but when confronted with it, might excuse it,” he said. “Today, black reporters and liberal reporters are taking it to a new level at newspapers across the country: Black mob violence is justified because of white racism that exists everywhere and is permanent.”

Brinkley said there are elements trying to jump to conclusions and make West Point “a mini Ferguson.”

“We’re going to consult with the District Attorney’s office, but a hate crime is when somebody is victimized solely because of a racial bias, a religious or sexual bias, on the basis of just that,” he said. “In the absence of that, it’s just a verbal altercation that turned violent. Just because racial remarks were used, and we’re still investigating whether or not some racial remarks were used in this incident, but just because racial remarks were used does not make it a hate crime. It could have just been a fight.”

Brinkley said he was getting phone calls Monday “from all over the country because everyone is trying to tie this to the situation in Ferguson.

“Somebody is perpetrating that someone made a comment that this (beating) was in retaliation for Ferguson, and we’re just not seeing it at this point in our investigation,” he continued. “They’re trying to make this a mini Ferguson. If it gets to that point, then we’ll deal with it, but at this point we don’t know where that’s coming from. We’ve got a good idea where it’s coming from, but none of the people we’ve interviewed have told us that.”

He said he also does not know where the reports of “20 black men” are coming from. Witness interviews and the video surveillance tapes, he said, indicate there were no more than seven black people involved in the attack.

As for the investigation, he said he expects to make at least one arrest as early as later today.

“We’re developing a list of suspects. There is video surveillance that’s being reviewed, and we’re working with another agency close by, and we think we have identified at least one person, in the video, and that’s going to move our investigation way up,” he said “The man that got injured in this – and the family released the name, not us – he is in very serious condition and his injuries are life-threatening.”

There is one other issue Brinkley said he finds perplexing.

“The victim and the guy who was with the victim were there when our officers arrived, but all the perpetrators had left the scene, and so one of the things we’re looking at is why it took so long for somebody to call the police,” he said.
Brinkley, the police chief, said he hopes the men involved will come forward voluntarily before arrest warrants are issued.

First Arrest Made in Vicious, Possibly Racially Motivated Beating of U.S. Marine

Police have arrested one suspect in the brutal beating of a former U.S. Marine in West Point, Mississippi, Police Chief Tim Brinkley told reporters on Monday.

Ralph Weems, 32, was left with “life-threatening injuries” and placed into a medically induced coma after a group of men assaulted him in a restaurant parking lot on Saturday morning.

Courtez McMilliam, 22, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault late Monday. Though Brinkley said in a press release that the attack doesn’t appear to be a hate crime, an eyewitness account suggests race may have played a role in the attack. The first suspect arrested in connection to the beating is a black man; Weems is white.

David Knighten, an Air Force veteran of the Afghanistan War who was with Weems during the attack, recalled “racial slurs” being shouted during the beating. Further, he said a man politely told him outside a Waffle House that the restaurant wasn’t a safe place for whites as people were angry over the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.

After Weems argued with some people inside the Waffle House, police were called and he and Knighten left. They reportedly went to a Huddle House restaurant, Knighten says they were followed by a group of men.

Witnesses reportedly told police the group was made up of black males, but no one could identify them.

At one point, Knighten says he was blocked from reaching Weems. By the time he got to his side, he says Weems was on the ground being kicked by a group of people, who also attacked him.

Brinkley said it will ultimately be up to the Grand Jury to decide if a hate crime was committed.

“It’s up to the grand jury to make this determination,” Brinkley said. “All we do is process the evidence and turn the case over to the district attorney who in turn presents it to the grand jury.”

Al Sharpton has been leading the desire for vigilante justice in Ferguson, Missouri following the shooting death, still under investigation, of Michael Brown by Officer Darren Wilson. The Obama regime has seemingly taken sides in the matter with Eric Holder relating to the community about his personal experiences as a black man while stating that they stand with the people of Ferguson.
There have even been threats that if no charges are brought against Wilson, regardless of the evidence, that there will be more violence and more riots.

Now, it looks like we potentially have our first case of a vengeance based hate crime by individuals who targeted a white guy in the name of justice for Michael Brown.Former U.S. Marine Ralph Weems, a 32 year old white male, was left with life-threatening injuries after being followed by a mob of 20 black black men then beaten. Prior to the attack, Weems, who is a veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, entered the Waffle House in West Point, Mississippi. His friend, David Knighten, said that someone waved him over and told him the restaurant was not safe for whites because the black people inside were angry over the death of Michael Brown.

When Knighten entered, he witnessed a heated argument with people in the restaurant. The two left the premises after police arrived due to another argument around 1 am. Prior to heading home, they stopped at a Huddle House restaurant and that is where the vicious beating took place.

Twenty black men had followed Knighten and Weems from the Waffle House. While the police say surveillance cameras indicate there were fewer than that, it doesn’t change the fact that these two men were beaten for the sole crime of being white.

Knighten said that he heard racial slurs coming from the mob. The Blaze reports that the AP has since removed those comments, but it was done so without any explanation.

Knighten was apparently inside the restaurant because he said Weems was on the ground being kicked by multiple attackers. The crowd then turned on Knighten who was left with broken facial bones, a cut over his left eye and a blood clot in his right eye. It was a full hour before police arrived at the scene following a 911 call at 2 am. By then the vicious mob of attackers were gone.

Weems has been placed in a medically induced coma due to the severity of his injuries after undergoing brain surgery.

Given the circumstances surrounding this attack, one would think that it would be labeled a hate crime. After all, a group of upwards of 20 black men singled out two white men for no reason other than the fact that they were angry about the Michael Brown shooting and were going to seek justice any way the could. Weems and Knighten just so happen to be the ‘wrong color’ in the wrong place at the wrong time.

But, police have already said they do not believe this was a hate crime. Police Chief Tim Brinkley said that he will leave that for a jury to decide, but thus far hate crime charges have not been brought up.

One suspect, Courtez McMilliam, 32, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault. The rest of the violent mob is still at large.
Will there be justice for Knighten and Weems? Weems fought for our country in not one, but two wars. He is hanging on to dear life due to an event that may have occurred due to the vigilante justice and desire to make someone pay brought on by the hate-filled rhetoric espoused and encouraged by MSNBC’s Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Eric Holder, and Barack Obama.

If history is repeated in charges brought up in this case, it is unlikely that hate crime charges will be brought against the savages who brutally attacked Knighten and Weems. Eric Holder, the attorney general who publicly identifies as a progressive activist, said before Congress in 2009 that the hate crime statute cannot be applied in relation to crimes of black people against white people.

To Holder, who was arrested while a student at Columbia University for his participation in the armed takeover of an ROTC office, it is not possible for a black person to commit a hate based crime against a white person. Only whites can commit hate crimes if they attack a black person. In fact, it doesn’t even necessarily have to be a proven fact. As we can see in Ferguson, that allegation is being made against Officer Darren Wilson with no proof thus far and before an investigation is complete.

We have witnessed the selective application of the hate crime statute recently in this country. For months, there were countless news stories of young blacks attacking white people in the ‘Knockout Game.’ The elderly were attacked. Pregnant women were attacked. In each of these instances, the victims were white and the perpetrators were black. No hate crime charges were leveled.

Where we saw hate crime charges be leveled was in the rare case of one white male who participated in the Knockout game and attacked a black man. The white man was charged with a hate crime.

Are we to believe that we live in a post-racial society when there is selective application of the law based upon the color of ones’ skin? Black thugs have gotten away with countless acts of criminality in targeting white people without being charged with a hate crime which would come with even harsher penalties.

But, again, we have progressive, race baiting activists in both the White House and the Attorney General’s office.

As former Marine Ralph Weems lies in a hospital bed fighting for his life, there is no media coverage. There is no statement by Obama. There is no outrage by Sharpton. There is no comment from Holder that he stands with Weems.

Shame on them.

Second man arrested in West Point fight

WEST POINT -- A second man has been arrested in connection with a weekend fight that left one man in a coma after he was found laying in a restaurant's parking lot.

Marquavious McMillian, 20, of Aberdeen, was arrested Thursday by the West Point Police Department. He was charged with one count of aggravated assault for his alleged role in a fight that took place in the Huddle House parking lot Saturday morning.

Ralph Weems IV, 32, was severely injured in the incident. A spokesperson with North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, where Weems remains, could not be reached for comment this morning.

Courtez McMillian, 22, of Okolona, was arrested Monday and also charged with one count of aggravated assault. Police are not saying if the alleged offenders are related.

Both men received a $250,000 bond. Authorities declined to comment on whether the men were related.

The case has drawn national attention for its racial undertones after a witness said Weems was beaten because he was white. The two men arrested for alleged roles in the incident are black. Police Chief Tim Brinkley has said evidence does not support claims the incident was racially motivated.

The investigation is ongoing. Witnesses are still being interviewed, according to Brinkley.

The case will be presented to the grand jury in October. Brinkley said the grand jury will decide if the case should be elevated to a hate crime.

The streets near Ferguson were literally on fire Thursday night with protesters chanting for the death of Officer Darren Wilson, the cop who fatally shot Michael Brown. In the Shaw neighborhood for a second night, they vandalized homes, committed assaults, blocked traffic and threw knives at police. This is hot on the heels ofthe shooting of a black teen with a lengthy criminal record on Wednesday.

Police say felon Vonderrit D. Myers fired three shots at a white officer before being shot and killed. Myers’ parents maintain that he was unarmed at the time of the shooting but Myers’ had a felony gun conviction on his record and was wearing an ankle monitor while a stolen 9mm Ruger was found at the scene.

Despite all of the evidence that the shooting was justified, the crowd remained undeterred. Seemingly oblivious or unconcerned with the facts of the Myers case, the protesters have used this latest police shooting as a springboard to fuel more unrest.
