The suspect is wanted of suspicion that he killed a man during an "alcohol induced argument" and then fled the state.

ANAHEIM - The FBI is asking for the public's help in finding a murder suspect from Illinois who has relatives in the Anaheim area and Mexico.

Jose Camacho, 41, also known as Homero Alvarez Salgado, is wanted for the May 25, 2001 slaying of a neighbor in a Chicago suburb, said Chicago FBI special agent Ross Rice.

Camacho is believed to have fled shortly after he allegedly stabbed, strangled and drowned Flavio Venancio, 28, whom he met in their Hanover Park neighborhood and befriended, Rice said.

Authorities believe Camacho and Venancio were going on a beer run when they crashed into a tree. Rice said that the crash led to an argument, then a fight and ended when Camacho apparently stabbed the victim.

Venancio's body was discovered floating face down in a pond by a crew spraying for mosquitoes.

Camacho tried to cover up the crime and attempted to make it look like someone stole his vehicle and then killed the victim, Rice said.

An investigation by the Schaumburg, Ill., Police Department identified Camacho as the killer, citing an "alcohol induced argument" as the motive for the killing.

Camacho was charged with first-degree murder and felony unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Camacho is a Mexican national, 41 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build, with back hair and brown eyes. Camacho has a tattoo on his left inner arm that says "Veronica, Solo tu un Anhelo," meaning "Veronica, I only long for you."

Anyone with information about Camacho's whereabouts is asked to call either the Chicago FBI at 312-421-6700 or any law enforcement agency.
