China Joining Russia In Syria Brings Risks Of World War

    10/09/2015 06:51 PM ET

American Decline: Chinese forces head to Syria to join with Russia in filling Obama's power vacuum and purportedly fight the Islamic State. A false move involving NATO member Turkey could mean world war.

Russian and Chinese military sources now confirm that Chinese warships are en route to the Middle East to get in on some of the action of humiliating the U.S.

In just a week and a half, Moscow has upended the dynamics of power in the Mideast by taking on the role that President Obama relinquished: acting like a superpower in a regional conflict that has implications extending far beyond the region.

Russian ruler Vladimir Putin launched airstrikes against rebels opposing the terrorist Assad regime in Syria, first with a modest force to gauge the U.S. response and perhaps pull out if threatened. Seeing no threat, Putin has been intensifying Russian operations, even sending in Spetsnaz special forces troops.

China's entry means two major powers are stepping in to do what the U.S. was unwilling to do against IS.

It's a lesson in how fast the tables can turn when America displays weakness — losing wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and proving to be ineffective against IS despite fighting it for a year and three months now.

Our commander-in-chief even admits that he has no strategy against the monstrous caliphate that his very own policies of weakness brought into being.

What is apparently happening now was inconceivable before Obama sent America spiraling into decline: our two Cold War adversaries uniting militarily in an effort that will ultimately give them dominance, at our expense, in the most strategically important part of the world, the oil-rich and politically fragile Middle East.

You can't carry out your objectives there over the course of years with the most advanced military in the world? Fine. Watch us do it, Moscow and Beijing are telling us with their actions. And in months, or perhaps only weeks.

How the next president will dig us out of this hole is hard to fathom. A new post-Cold War Brezhnev Doctrine could come into effect, in which Moscow and Beijing warn that they will not let the U.S. reassert its influence in countries they've "liberated" in the Mideast.

If that turns out to be the case, America will be risking war with both Russia and China if it even tries to return to its pre-Obama influence in the region.

Moreover, with Russia already more than once "accidentally" violating the airspace of Turkey, a NATO member in spite of its current anti-U.S. government, the dangers — Moscow and Beijing engaging in incursions or other provocative actions on the Syria-Turkish border — are clear.

All NATO nations are obligated by treaty to defend against an attack on any individual NATO nation. If Russia and China see what they can get away with, they could expose NATO as impotent.

Or, worse, they could trigger World War III.

Neither Obama nor the many millions who voted for him twice ever thought his policies of weakness could make things this bad.

When we elect people who have never had any skin in the game, who have never had to risk their own careers or money in a decision, who have no special work or professional experience in areas of decision-making, when they have no historical evidence of understanding the complex issues they'll be dealing with, we're going to have problems, especially when they don't even have the skill to hire people who do.

We have candidates for all these offices throughout our country on every level who couldn't sort a bag of beans, yet they are elected, they are handed the power, and make decisions on whims, errors, bad advice, emotion, donors and ignorance and whether it works out or not, the worst that is going to happen to them is they have a tough re-election campaign, they lose, and are replaced with another just like them.

Our elections especially state and federal elections were never intended to be guided by issues like whether or not Americans can keep and bear a firearm, that's settled law by the US Constitution, or whether someone can worship their own religion so long as it doesn't become law that invokes that religion on others, that's settled law by the US Constitution, or whether a girl or woman can terminate an unwanted pregnancy, that's settled law by the US Constitution and a US Supreme Court Ruling, or who should pay more income tax or less income tax, that was settled law by the US Constitution, it took an Amendment of the US Constitution to even make that debate possible, and so many other issues from gay marriage to the War on Drugs, and on and on and on, that divide our nation over things of no consequence to the overall well-being and success of our nation or people.

When leaders are distracted by the distractions of issues that shouldn't even be on the table, when a President feels compelled to fly cross country at our expense to meet with a community that has experienced a shooting tragedy to try to invoke support to violate the Second Amendment of the US Constitution while his hometown of Chicago can't pay its bills or even pay over-time to police to maintain the peace on weekends and the Mayor of Chicago is his former White House Chief of Staff, what does this say about our government? What does that say about the elections that put them in those positions?

Republicans created a political party to keep things on track, to focus on the big stuff, to do big things, to end abominations, to force compliance with the goals of our nation under our Constitution and take our country and its citizens to a higher quality and standard of life, one of equality, justice, prosperity and progress.

That is where we need to be today, that is what we need to do today, that is what all our goals for our nation should be, not what our personal views are on how other people live their lives or how often and how much we can stomp on someone elses freedom or liberty because we don't like what they do with it.

We can do much to fix our country, if we would only unite and choose to do so. We have some really huge issues facing US very soon, issues that can not be kicked down the road. How we solve those, how we choose to correct them, will determine whether we continue to exist as a free nation of free citizens.

We're in our Period of Ironies and Opposites, the most dangerous time for a Republic. One need only ask our House of Representatives, why with our pulling out of Syria, with Russia and China moving in, with failures in Iraq, Iran, Libya and Afghanistan, why it would choose to lift the ban on US oil exports? If there was ever a time when we needed the ban for national security purposes, it is now.

Were they so distracted by the Oregon shooting, phony Planned Parenthood videos, the Pope's visit or non-visit with Kim Davis, the slip by McCarthy on the purpose of the Benghazi Committee investigations, Trump Rising, the Muslim Refugees, Illegal Aliens clamoring for more free stuff .... that they couldn't think straight on such an important vote?

I don't believe we're headed to WWIII. I believe Russia and China are going to settle the turmoil in the Middle East, and we should be grateful to them, but any time we see such failures by the US after so much money has been spent, so many lives taken, admitting defeat is hard to do. It happened in Vietnam. We've been down that road before. Maybe this time, we'll learn our lesson and stay out of these affairs that we don't understand and for which we are not equipped to solve.
