Here it is, folks, and it is bad news: Obama’s Gun Ban List is Out...

    November 29, 2012/⚑ RedFlag

Here it is, folks, and it is bad news. The framework for legislation is already laid, and the Democrats have the votes to pass anything they want to impose upon us. They really do not believe you need anything more than a brick to defend your home and family. Look at the list and see how many you own. Remember, it is registration, then confiscation. It has happened in the UK, in Australia, in Europe, in China, and what they have found is that for some reason the criminals do not turn in their weapons, but will know that you did.

Remember, the first step in establishing a dictatorship is to disarm the citizens.

"The Democrats current gun-ban-list proposal (final list will be worse)" by Alan Korwin, Author, Gun Laws of America

Slipping below the radar (or under the short-term memory cap), the Democrats have already leaked a gun-ban list, even under the Bush administration when they knew full well it had no chance of passage (HR 1022, 110th Congress). It serves as a framework for the new list the Brady’s plan to introduce shortly.

I have an outline of the Brady’s current plans and targets of opportunity. It’s horrific. They’re going after the courts, regulatory agencies, firearms dealers and statutes in an all out effort to restrict we the people. They’ve made little mention of criminals.

Now more than ever, attention to the entire Bill of Rights is critical. Gun bans will impact our freedoms under search and seizure, due process, confiscated property, states’ rights, free speech, right to assemble and more, in addition to the Second Amendment.

Frames or receivers for the above are included, along with conversion kits.
Attorney General gets carte blanche to ban guns at will: Under the proposal, the U.S. Attorney General can add any “semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General.”

Note that Obama’s pick for this office, Eric Holder, wrote a brief in the Heller case supporting the position that you have no right to have a working firearm in your own home. In making this determination, the bill says, “there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event.” In plain English this means that ANY firearm ever obtained by federal officers or the military is not suitable for the public.

The last part is particularly clever, stating that a firearm doesn’t have a sporting purpose just because it can be used for sporting purpose — is that devious or what? And of course, “sporting purpose” is a rights infringement with no constitutional or historical support whatsoever, invented by domestic enemies of the right to keep and bear arms to further their cause of disarming the innocent.

Respectfully submitted, Alan Korwin, Author Gun Laws of America

SAF Starts Petition Demanding Apology for Jason Whitlock's "NRA is the new KKK", Bob Costas's Anti-Gun Sunday Night Football Rant

In response to a recent op-ed by FOX Sports' columnist Jason Whitlock and a subsequent statement that "I [Whitlock] did not go as far as I'd like to go because my thoughts on the NRA and America's gun culture - I believe the NRA is the new KKK," SAF has started a petition demanding an immediate and public apology to America's gun owners.

The petition, captioned "Jason Whitlock, Bob Costas, NBC Sports, FOX Sports, and the NFL: Apologize to America's millions of law-abiding and peaceful gun owners!", seeks 100,000+ pro-Second Amendment signers.

During the halftime segment of the NFL's December 2 Sunday Night Football broadcast on NBC, NBC Sports' announcer Bob Costas quoted Whitlock's column and blamed the murder of Kasandra Perkins and suicide death of Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher on America's "gun culture" of law-abiding gun owners and civil rights activists.

SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb said that Whitlock's recent column is "ludicrous" and Costas' on-air commentary "shameful."

"The point Whitlock misses completely is that Jovan Belcher - a massive NFL linebacker - had every intention of murdering the mother of his 3-month-old child, one way or another. Had Perkins had a firearm herself, perhaps their daughter would not be an orphan today. Regardless, America's millions of law-abiding and peaceful gun owners don't deserve to be blamed for this tragic circumstance and it's appalling that we would be singled out as Whitlock and Costas have done."

"These outrageous comments by Costas and Whitlock show how detached from the American mainstream the anti-civil rights element really is," said Brandon Combs, SAF Director of Programs and Outreach. "Millions of people across the U.S. choose to defend their lives and those of their family with common semi-automatic handguns, the same kind Mr. Costas doesn't see any need for. Thankfully, the Constitution takes his firearms policy preferences off the table."

"Guns save lives, thousands of them, every day. Indicting Constitutionally-protected instruments of self defense - and a majority of Americans who participate in our long history and culture of private gun ownership - for the deaths of Perkins and Belcher is simply wrong-headed and irresponsible."

Nicole Brown Simpson Disagrees with Bob Costas

By now, many of you reading this have already heard much opinion pro and con regarding NBC sportscaster Bob Costas’ anti-Second Amendment remarks during last Sunday night’s football game. But just in case you missed it, Costas (using sportswriter’s Jason Whitlock column as a human shield) said: “If Jovan Belcher didn’t possess a gun he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today.” If Costas were really serious about having a conversation ...

BOB COSTAS: JUST ANOTHER MINDLESS GUN CONTROL NUT

    By Chuck Baldwin
    December 6, 2012
    NewsWithViews.com

While watching the halftime show for the Sunday night NFL game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys this past Sunday evening, I was stunned to hear NBC sportscaster Bob Costas drift from his sports commentary into using the tragedy of the murder-suicide committed by Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher as a platform to promote yet another mindless assault against the Second Amendment.

Belcher had earlier shot and killed his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins and then himself. Costas used the tragic killings as an excuse to launch his assault against the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Costas quoted from a column written by sportscaster Jason Whitlock, saying, "Our current gun culture ensures that more and more domestic disputes will end in the ultimate tragedy, and that more convenience store confrontations over loud music coming from a car will leave more teenage boys bloodied and dead. Handguns do not enhance our safety. They exacerbate our flaws, tempt us to escalate arguments, and bait us into embracing confrontation rather than avoiding it…If Jovan Belcher didn't possess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today."

    See the report here.

Let’s see. It seems to me that people have been murdering their fellow man ever since Cain murdered Abel. And would you know it: Cain had zero access to a .357 magnum revolver or .45 ACP pistol. And since when would a 240-pound linebacker need any help killing a woman half his size and strength? Does one really believe if someone is intent on murder, the lack of a firearm would deter him or her? How many people are killed with knives, clubs, axes, “blunt objects,” or even bare hands? Countless! And the fact is, firearms are used a minimum of 50 times more often in the protection of life against a violent attack than they are in the taking of a life.

My friend, Larry Pratt at Gun Owners of America, writes, “Perhaps Mr. Costas would have been disappointed if Ms. Perkins had had access to a gun and shot Belcher first? Would he then have thought there were too many guns? Actually, he might not have even heard about a self-defense shooting. Outside of the local press, self-defense shootings rarely make national news.

“To be sure, there are so many self-defense shootings each year that the national news would be carrying several accounts a day. Guns are used over 4,000 times a day (using conservative research findings) in self-defense. In fact, using those conservative figures given us by the Clinton Justice Department, guns are used 50 times more often in self-defense than to illegitimately take life.”

    See Pratt’s column here.

Unlike Costas, who spouted out a sophomoric tirade of uneducated gibberish against the Second Amendment, a report in the New York Post more accurately describes the causes of this tragedy: “Kansas City Chiefs linebacker and former Long Island high-school star Jovan Belcher was allegedly battling football-related head injuries and booze, painkiller and domestic problems when he snapped and murdered his girlfriend before killing himself in front of two coaches Saturday.”

    See the report here.

So, why didn’t Costas use the precious air-time he was given at NBC to call attention to the real causes of this tragedy? Why didn’t he talk about the on-going problem of chronic concussions being sustained by so many NFL players? It is well documented that too many head injuries are often speculated to be a cause of the rampant number of suicides among active and former NFL players--including the celebrated former superstar linebacker, Junior Seau? ABC News concluded its report about Seau’s suicide saying:

“Multiple former NFL players have committed suicide in recent years possibly as a result of brain injuries, including former Chicago Bears safety Dave Duerson, who also shot himself in the chest, ex-Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Terry Long, and Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Andre Waters.”

    See the report here.

Why didn’t Costas talk about Jovan’s obvious alcohol and drug abuse? The only answer is because Costas has a personal anti-gun bias and used the air-time granted him by NBC to vent his paranoia. Well, now at least we know what Bob Costas is all about: he is just another mindless gun-control nut.

If Bob is reading this column, he might want to read this news report out of San Bernardino, California. According to the local CBS affiliate, “The city attorney of San Bernardino is under scrutiny for telling residents to ‘lock their doors and load their guns’ during a city council meeting.

“The official explained that because the city is bankrupt and slashing public safety budgets people will need to start protecting themselves.

“City Attorney Jim Penman said he doesn’t regret what he said.”

The CBS report continued saying, “The city attorney said it’s important for people to be smart about protecting themselves and their families.”

    See the report here.

Instead of advocating the disarmament of honest, law-abiding citizens, Costas would have been better off advising people such as Kasandra Perkins who are mixed up with violence-prone individuals to arms themselves for their own protection. Obviously, the city attorney of San Bernardino is a much more reasoned and rational public figure than Bob Costas. That’s because, Mr. Penman probably has better real-world experience than Mr. Costas, who obviously has lived in the insulated, plastic world of the media elite for much too long.

As for me, I will continue to watch Sunday Night Football, but I will never again listen to another word that Bob Costas has to say about anything. The mute button on my remote control was made for nincompoops like Bob Costas. Beyond that, if Costas is really serious about his anti-gun position and not a hypocrite, like so many other gun-control nuts, I suggest he move out from behind his barricaded mansion and post a large sign outside his personal residence that reads, “This house proudly has no guns in it.” Anyone think that will happen?

Costas shoots himself in foot, again – on O’Reilly

Sportscaster thinks Americans can buy 'artillery, automatic weapons'

    Published: 14 hours ago

NBC's Bob Costas In the No Spin Zone With Bill O'Reilly (Full Interview) - 12-5-12 - YouTube

WASHINGTON – NBC sportscaster Bob Costas shot himself in the foot, again, in a damage-control appearance on Fox News Channel’s “The O’Reilly Factor” explaining his controversial remarks about gun control during a “Sunday Night Football” halftime show.
Costas angered millions of Americans by using his sports broadcaster platform to blame “the gun culture” for the murder of a woman by Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, who also used it to kill himself.

He began by praising a column by Fox Sports columnist Jason Whitlock. Then Costas added: “In the coming days, Jovan Belcher’s actions and their possible connection to football will be analyzed. Who knows? ‘But here,’ wrote Jason Whitlock, ‘is what I believe. If Jovan Belcher didn’t possess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today.’”

But Costas, who had three days to digest criticism by those who believe “guns don’t kill people,” revealed on Bill O’Reilly’s program he is woefully unaware of current gun laws in America – suggesting he is opposed to the unrestricted sale of “military-style artillery” and “automatic weapons,” both of which are banned.
O’Reilly didn’t point out that fact in the interview.

Costas insisted he is not opposed to the Second Amendment of the Constitution but merely wants to address “a gun culture in this country.”

“It plays itself out in many ways, but it almost always leads to tragedy rather than safety,” he said.

Costas also added that when guns are prevalent, “far more often than not, bad things happen.”

But Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America, points out “there are so many self-defense shootings each year that the national news would be carrying several accounts a day.”

Guns are used more than 4,000 times a day in self-defense, using conservative research findings, he said in a response to the Belcher murder posted on his group’s website.

“In fact, using those conservative figures given us by the Clinton Justice Department, guns are used 50 times more often in self-defense than to illegitimately take life,” said Pratt.

For his part in the discussion, O’Reilly suggested it was America’s founding fathers “who gave us the right to bear arms,” a claim that the founders themselves would find ludicrous. They believed the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights were universal, inherent and inalienable – i.e., bestowed by God.

Gun Sales Surge: Smith & Wesson Announces Sales +48%

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 12/06/2012 18:30 -0500

Via Mike Krieger of Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

I have maintained for quite some time that the only true “consumer confidence” statistic one should look at is that of gun sales.

The bottom line is people do not hoard guns when they are confident about the future of the country, and gun sales have never been better. More evidence emerged as Smith & Wesson just announced record financial results. From the company’s press released announced after the market close:

Net sales from continuing operations for the second quarter were a record$136.6 million, up 48.0% from the second quarter last year. The increase was led by continued strong sales across all of the company’s firearm product lines, including M&P™ branded products, such as pistols, modern sporting rifles, and the recently launched Shield™ pistol designed for concealed carry and personal protection.

Not only that, but they think the future is equally confident…for gun sales at least.

The company expects net sales from continuing operations for the third quarter of fiscal 2013 to be between$126.0 million and $131.0 million, which would represent year-over-year growth from continuing operations in excess of 30.0%. The company anticipates GAAP earnings per diluted share from continuing operations of between$0.19 and $0.21for the third quarter of fiscal 2013.

Perhaps this is why Bob Costas and Piers Morgan are running around the mainstream media bashing guns. The White House is totally freaked out about this and I guarantee you there will be a meeting about these results in D.C. shortly.

    Full press release here.
