A strip club cancelled plans to host a party in honour of Trayvon Martin after critics blasted the establishment on social-networking sites.

Bentley's Lingerie Lounge called off the party at its Greensboro, North Carolina club after they learned that outside vendors organizing the event would be using the 17-year-old's shooting death as a theme.

The promoters advertised that attendees could get free admission before 11pm if they brought an empty bag of skittles to the party, which was scheduled for this past Wednesday.

Trayvon had purchased a bag of the fruit-flavored candy and a can of iced tea right before he was shot to death on February 26 in Sanford, Florida.

The flier for the party read: 'Justice: In memory of Trayvon Martin.'

An image of the young boy was featured next to text that read 'Lingerie Lounge will be wide open with the sexiest entertainers in NC!!!'
