Poll: Independents Overwhelmingly Choose GOP over Democrats on Guns

A Washington Post/ABC News poll released on May 1 shows independent voters overwhelmingly choose Republicans over Democrats on the issue of guns.

Published in The Washington Post, the poll asked, "Which political party is closer to your own opinion on the issue of gun control, the (Democrats) or the (Republicans)?"
Of all independents who participated, 49% responded in favor of Republicans, versus 29% who sided with Democrats.
The same polls showed that "registered voters" in general chose Republicans over Democrats by a margin of 46% to 39%, even with Democrat voters included.

This comes on the heels of an April 28th Washington Post/ABC News poll which showed "Democrats at risk in November as Obama's approval rating falls."
