A Florida woman, who has an autistic son, says enrolling in ObamaCare was a nightmare. Little did she know. After she got a full-time job with healthcare benefits, she tried cancelling her coverage. That’s when the real nightmare began.
Melissa Battles says her ObamaCare experience was a disaster from start to finish.
“When I tried to enroll my entire family- I enrolled online – it is very convoluted and it takes a very long time to enroll.”
The single mother ultimately qualified for a subsidy, but her application was delayed seemingly forever due to finding coverage for her autistic son.
Shortly after her application was approved, she found a full-time job with benefits and subsequently attempted to cancel her ObamaCare coverage. Via the Washington Free Beacon:
She contacted her insurer, Florida Health Care Plans, to terminate her policy. They told her she could not disenroll from her policy with them, instructing her to do it with the marketplace.

Battles revealed, “I was blown away that they had not thought forward enough to realize that people were going to disenroll. This is going to be a common practice.”
More on the sterling “customer service” we’ve come to know and love from the federal government:
The first time she called the marketplace, she was placed on hold for 49 minutes. Finally, a representative answered, only to tell her that they could not resolve her problem, and subsequently transferred her to a specialist. The specialist was not able to disenroll her and thus referred her to an Event Resolution Center. The Center did not have an email address, direct number, or address to file a complaint- only a 1-800 number.

She was finally able to reach healthcare.gov and was told that she could terminate her policy next month, after her other coverage began. She was forced to pay twice for health insurance.
It only took Melissa six steps, countless hours and a double monthly premium to escape from ObamaCare. I guess once they get you, they don’t want to let you go.
