CBP officers find marijuana in tire wheels

A 21-year-old Brownsville man is in federal custody after being arrested at the B&M International Bridge accused of smuggling marijuana in the wheels of his car.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers sent Jesus Roberto Mancilla to secondary inspection just before midnight Monday. It was there officers discovered metal compartments in the wheels of his white 1996 Ford Thunderbird.

Inside the compartments officers found 79 pounds of marijuana. Officers say the marijuana has a street value of $79,000.

Mancilla was turned over to ICE agents, who plan to file federal drug charges against him.
