ALERT! CA looks to expand the use of Matricula Consular Card

I RECEIVED THIS IN EMAIL. YOU CAN SEND FAX/EMAIL FROM THE LINK!:

ALERT! CA Legislators look to expand the use of Matricula Consular Cards!
State Senator Lou Correa, D-Santa Ana, and Assemblyman Juan Arambula, D-Fresno, have introduced legislation that would allow notaries in California to accept Matricula Consular cards as valid identification.

The only purpose for Matricula Consular identification cards is to facilitate illegal immigration. The present law allows foreign nationals to use passports bearing an immigration service stamp.

The National Notary Association opposes this legislation "due to the non-existence of any means of verifying the true identify of the card holder."

In testimony before Congress, the FBI stated:

[C]onsular ID cards are primarily being utilized by illegal aliens in the United States.... The Department of Justice and the FBI have concluded that the Matricula Consular is not a reliable form of identification.

Please contact your Sacramento officials to oppose SB 461 and AB 442, outrageous efforts to blur the line between legal and illegal behavior.

    ACTION NEEDED
Let your state Senator and Assemblymember know that you disagree with this attempt to expand acceptance of the Matricula Consular card.
