The Arizona immigration law
Dear Editor:

This is in response to the new legislation passed in Arizona.

Arizona has had to defend itself for passing the new immigration bill.

One poll shows that 70 percent of Arizona voters are in favor of this legislation. The state is simply giving law enforcement the ability to enforce immigration laws.

You have some people saying that this violates human and civil rights and will lead to profiling. If you are in this country illegally, you are violating the law. If you are here in this country rightfully, you should have no problem showing such documentation. This should be some one’s patriotic duty to proudly show their American citizenship.

You have cities like San Francisco and Oakland that have publicly stated that they will cancel all contracts with companies based out of Arizona and instructing city employees not to travel to Arizona. You have a congressman in New York who is pressuring major league baseball to move the All-Star game out of Arizona in 2011.

All of these actions are to boycott the legislation. I believe the state felt that the federal government was lacking in their effort to enforce immigration laws and was not doing enough to help the state with their problems.

I think it’s time for states, politicians and citizens of the U.S.A. to hold these cities of California accountable for this proposed boycott. People who do favor this legislation should give all their business to Arizona based companies and the state of Arizona.
