And did you get up and walk out or complain to the manager?
If I encounter wait staff or anyone at a restaurant that I have to interact with that does not speak English I make sure the manager understands my displeasure and I leave and do not ever go back.

Isn't Deep Ellum still an artsy area?

I would say yes, a cook is paid more by the restaurant than a waitperson. (Waitpeople live on tips. ) A Mexican cook is paid much less than an American.

But it is very simple, some people might be taken aback at having a non-English speaking person wait on them - don't mind them cooking.

The thing that gets me is they must be advertising for illegal Spanish speakers (cheap labor) because statistics say that legal/citizen Hispanics are bi-lingual and know how to speak English. So why would they be preferencial hiring of Spanish speakers? There is your clue folks.

Of course, they are encouraging illegals. Even if the illegal speaks English, and a lot of them do, this sign tells them the employer is 'illegal friendly'.

Many mall restaraunts hire illegals. Stay away from them as well. I personally know of one where illegals work 10 hours 6 days a week.

Our new Goodwill store had their help wanted ad in the newspaper in Spanish-there was no English version. The funny thing is most of the people they hired were American citizens that have lived here forever. I think the illegals were too busy getting paid by the taxpayers so they can have and take care of anchor babies.
