You've gone peak oil on us dyehar39?

Refinery problem and light sweet peak two years ago are the main reasons for the time being. Here's a thread dedicated to the refinery problems if anyone is interested.

    Refinery problems...

I'm not sure if we had no illegals our situation with gas would be much better... they would just use the gas in Mexico. It's subsidized there and even though Mexico exports oil to us (for the time being) we send refined product (gasoline) back to them. We all eat from the same rice bowl on this one folks.

Want to share a really frightening vision of the future in Mexico? Look at the graph below and remember that 60% of the government's revenue (used to feed people) comes from oil...

Far more than that, the URBAN SPRAWL they elicit causes more gas consumption. Club Sierra is hijacked by a pro-immigrant donor so they can't say anything about it, but non-corrupt environmental orgs acknowledge the destrution of the environment due to illegals.

The increase in consumption is one of the problems. If we did not use so much there would not be a demand and it would affect prices.

Eventually we will be able to get less and less gasoline and without it we are in big trouble and added trouble with the increase in population. Over population causes a multitude of problems. Many of which is not fixable. The world do not have an umlimited supply of oil. Sooner will will run out and Middle East countries know this but deny it.

With the increase of 12-20 million and counting of ilegals into this country will facilitate the demise of this country. It will cause the depletion of our natural resources faster then expected or planned for. We cannot handle it.

I just now got an email from My Congressman Sali. He says he's pushing for a measure in the House that would temporarily drop 10 cents a gallon off the federal tax for fuel, to help people out.

And lowering the price of gas increases the supply how?

I'll tell you how, it doesn't. You end up with cheap gas that you can't buy because there are shortages. Welcome back to the 70's.

Use less gasoline please... oh, but please keep the economy running like normal. Your cooperation is appreciated citizen.

diehard is correct... the ultimate source of the problem is population. But that is not a very popular subject to get into sadly. No one wants to hear that you can only have one child to move us towards a solution or that half or more of the world population has to go bye bye.

Gas Prices are just the start of it
Gas prices are going to keep going up. And gas prices aren’t the only thing headed up. The energy crisis has started and the United States of America is about to go through a profound and wrenching change. As is the rest of the world. We face an energy crisis never before confronted in human history. Energy for transportation, manufacturing and everyday living will have to come from other sources than the one we use now, most likely less efficient sources. Gas prices will just be a small part if it. That beautiful black liquid with the fantastic Power/Mass ratio that was the base building block of our civilization is going to hit its mid-point, Global Peak Oil, and then slide into permanent decline and we will be forced to make major changes in our way of living. Population will keep going up, the oil supply will keep going down. Gas prices will skyrocket!! Year after year, decade after decade, as demand and population increase, the supply of oil will continue to dwindle. Until all the oil is gone. It’s time to start thinking about it. Now!!!

Demand for anything raise prices. The price of gas is not going down, but we still have to use less.
We need to take a lesson from China. Their population cause a demand of everything and raises prices on everything from food, housing to cars.
With our borders open and millions crossing each year, we are already seeing a demand and rise in prices.
Population in this country has to be controlled to take pressure off Americans and all of our natural resources. We do not have enough water. We cannot produce enough food. We import lots of food and almost everything, even people.
And things will get worse if population is not controlled.
