Thread: IL: Minuteman Chris Simcox coming to Chicago

[color=blue]Chris Simcox of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps is coming to Chicago to talk at DePaul Univ. on May 19th.

I found this post in the google group ChicagoMayDay, which is a group where the organizers of the Chicago Mayday march, and other Latino activists from Chicago hang out. I’ve been spying on them here for sometime now.

This posting is about Chris Simcox's expected visit!

I found this line a bit humorous “I will not stand for the "free speech" rhetoric used to justify Chris Simcox's uncensored hate speech. Not at DePaul.â€

2400 North Sheffield Avenue! Please plan to be there at 6 pm on Monday, May 19th, wearing a black shirt.

Only DePaul students will be allowed in, so everyone else who can make it will picket the entrance and protest outside.

We have sent a letter to the DePaul administration, insisting that they
disinvite Chris Simcox, asserting our right to a campus that is free of hate
speech.

Thursday May 15 we are having a pre-protest to raise awareness about this event. We are going to meet in the quad @ 11am and then walk over to the student center together. We will have signs and flyers to let DePaul know we ARE NOT okay with Simcox on our campus.

Sunday night, May 18th, at 6:00pm the vigil starts at Our Lady of Gaudalupe Mission (2500 S Harding) that will end at DePaul University. There will be DePaul kids going on the vigil and supporting it along the way, and we will have a welcoming committee when they arrive. They will be there all night and all Monday until the event takes place. So Sunday late night and Monday stop by the vigil and show your support

Chris Simcox, and even going so far as claiming he knows illegals by their name and has heard their stories

Just watched this latest video and article. There was a small protest and march.

The media here in Sanctuary Chicago is so one sided. I pray that elsewhere in the country the Minutemen and others anti-illegal immigration groups are viewed more as “Watchdogsâ€

Wish I could have been one of the two hundred allowed inside! The conservative alliance rep. came across very well. It is a freedom of speech issue. Not hate or violence. There are many videos out of violence committed against minutemen/woman from open borders illegal immigrant protectors.
