Dear Friends:

Judicial Watch, State Senator Tom Harman, and I have fought this from every angle we can. WE NEED HELP!

Click on above link for story OR arrow down to read it at the bottom of this note.

This land sale transaction MUST NOT, CANNOT go through! This property is state owned, on a major highway, and practically beachfront! The city of Laguna Beach is "STEALING" this from our state of California for a mere $18,000! (Yes, that is EIGHTEEN THOUSAND, only 3 zeros)

PLEASE DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO HELP US HERE!

1) Call YOUR own state senator and assemblyman and tell them this is OUTRAGEOUS since we are facing a $20 Billion deficit and laying off teachers and closing parks, that this land can be sold for next to nothing in order to run a Day Labor site on it.

2) PLEASE send this story out to any media contacts to bring more public attention to this issue.

3) PLEASE write letters to OC Register, Coastline Pilot, and Laguna Beach Independent.

4) PLEASE try to attend Saturday's April 5th fundraiser for Judicial Watch (email for details).

5) Check out all the court documents on this case by going to www.betsyrosspatriots.com and clicking on the DOCUMENTS section.

Caltrans proceeds with sale of day labor site
April 3rd, 2008 · 1 Comment · posted by ataxin

Officials from Caltrans, State Sen. Tom Harman’s office and the city of Laguna Beach met yesterday to discuss the city’s purchase of a sliver of state-owned land where its day labor hiring site is located.
Based on what we could glean, not much has changed — other than the city and state are going to map out a traffic safety plan to address concerns about people running across Laguna Canyon Road. Pam Gorniak, a Caltrans spokeswoman, said the agency had put a 90-day hold on the sale of the property to address some of Harman’s concerns but the transaction is expected to move ahead as planned on May 20, when Caltrans will give Laguna Beach a purchase agreement for the site.
Harman, who opposes the operation of a hiring site that does not check workers’ immigration status, had raised concerns about the sale of the 16,810-square foot lot to Laguna Beach for $18,000 instead of for commercial use. Harman has proposed a bill in the state legislature that aims to prevent the city from buying the property and later changing its zoning.
