On April 7, 2008, Katie Couric and CBS Evening News took a page from the Lou Dobbs playbook in presenting a misleading and inaccurate portrayal of the role of immigrants in U.S. society. In this report, Ms. Couric and CBS News fall well short of the journalistic standards set by former CBS News anchors Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite.

This segment of the report is both internally contradictory and misleading. The hospital system reports that it does not check immigration status; then, its CEO suggests that $200 million in health care costs are attributable to the 2,400 children born to undocumented immigrants. If the hospital does not verify citizenship, how does it calculate the costs of immigrant care?

Perhaps the hospital has a clue about immigration status when the 'new' mother applies immediately for medicare.

This article gives a new name to propoganda.

a. Don't assume for a minute, that because a state agency 'researched' and published statistics on the matter that they are in fact objective.
Heritage Foundation, Prof. Borjas (Harvard), Rubenstein, et al have produced research which refutes the basic assumption here.

b. How about education? Was that factored in as service expenditure?
Let's see 8000 per student / per year in public education, times how many IA children and/or anchor babies? That gets VERY expensive, VERY fast.

Exposing the expense of supporting ILLEGAL ALIENS in this country via medical, education and welfare assistance would not be in the CFR's best interest in regard to the NAU. So what is up with CBS? Why have they decided to do a story that the powers to be have been working very hard the last several years to squash? Something stinks and I don't trust anyone at the helm of the MSM.
