Portland Man Pleads Guilty To Harassing Victims Of Aurora Theater Shooting

PORTLAND, Ore. (CBS4)- A Portland man accused of harassing victims in the Aurora theater shooting pleaded guilty to stalking and harassment on Wednesday.

Kevin Purfield posted his rants online and also called and texted grieving families.
Police in Aurora said Purfield was adept online at finding ways to make contact with the family members, and used email, social media and phone calls to get to them.

Purfield pleaded guilty on Wednesday to one count of stalking and one count of harassment as part of a plea agreement.
In exchange for the guilty plea several other counts of stalking and harassment were dropped.
Purfield was arrested in April after police in both Portland and Aurora launched an investigation.
Grieving family members of the Aurora theater shooting reporting harassing voice mails, emails and texts.
Purfield has had a history of mental illness and was admitted to a hospital on a mental health hold last year.
He will be sentenced on Friday.
