Napolitano came under fire after she said Sunday that "the system worked," noting the crew of Flight 253 "took appropriate action" to address the terrorist plot as it unfolded.


But her remarks were met with instant criticism, prompting the Homeland Security chief to clarify herself during a round of media appearances Monday morning.

The secretary then conceded on Monday that the system did not work.

“Our system did not work in this instance," Napolitano told "The Today Show." "I think the comment is being taken out of context."

But some airline pilots say they didn't get enough information about the terror attempt aboard Flight 253 and they're blaming the federal government.

"Within an hour to 90 minutes of the incident occurring," says Janet Napolitano, the Secretary of Homeland Security. "All 128 flights in the air had been notified to take some special measures in light of what had occurred on the northwest airlines flight."

Remember this is when Janet Napolitano went on the Today and said, "I think the comment is being taken out of context," claiming what she really meant wasthat she was referring to the system in place to respond to threats once they've been discovered. Napolitano went on to say, "What I'm is saying is that once the incident occurred, moving forward, we were immediately able to notify the 128 flights in the air on protective measures to take, immediately able to notify law enforcement on the ground, airports both domestically and internationally, all carriers,"


P128 were notified, but at the time the Northwest Flight landed there were more than 3500 flights in the air over the U.S., and the number grew through the afternoon.

So the system fails again, 3500 US flights in air at the time of this incident were at immediate risk and were not notified of the danger they might be in. Total incompetence!

Enough is enough. This woman is unfit to field any US Agency not let alone anything to do with national security. She has continued to make irrational statements, she has greatly weakened law enforcement measures regarding not just terroist threats, but also Immigration enforcement measures, she has repeatedly made political statements concerning future Immigration policy not yet determined by the american people. Her job is too enforce the law, not make comments on Immigration Policy. She needs to immediately resign.
