Say It Ain't So, Tingles! MSNBC's Matthews Says Dems Could Lose 10 Senate Seats In This Year's Midterms

On Sunday’s “Meet the Press,” MSNBC “Hardball” host Chris Matthews admitted that Democrats could easily lose 10 seats in this year’s midterm elections, giving the Republicans control of the Senate.
“To the Democrats this election, a rosy scenario is to lose 5 senate seats, not six. They could lose 10. [So], they’re going to their battle stations; nothing on social security [cuts], all-out minimum wage.”
The obvious question begs to be asked. Especially of Chris Matthews, who rails against the Republicans and their policies on a daily basis:

If the GOP is so out of touch, so off-base, and the Democrats are so dialed in to the major concerns of the American people, why is Matthews predicting a “sweep” by the Republicans — another “shellacking,” as Obama called the 2010 midterms, in which the Democrats lost the House after two years of the Obama administration?

Cantor Predicts GOP To Control All Of Congress

February 26, 2014 by UPI - United Press International, Inc.

    UPI FILE

WASHINGTON (UPI) — House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) predicted the Republican Party would win back control of the Senate in November and retain control of the House.
“I think it will be a good election year for us in the House, and I do also think that the Republicans will also do very well and take the Senate,” he told Fox Business Network.
But he said most people aren’t thinking about the midterm elections year.
“With the elections upcoming I think we’ve got to remember most people in the country aren’t so focused on that,” Cantor said. “They’re focused on their own difficulties right now in getting through the month and making sure their job is there, and we want to stay focused on those issues.
“I do think there is a lot in this economy right now that isn’t working for people,” he continued. “The House Republicans are for an America that works.”
The Democratic leadership did not comment on Cantor’s remarks.
Republicans have a 17-seat advantage in the House and need to gain six seats in the Senate to win control of that chamber.
Cantor said he wanted to focus on “increasing paychecks through job growth and competition” but discounted a Democratic proposal to hike the minimum wage, a priority outlined in President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address and something Democrats are trying to push in the House.
Instead, he pushed a bill that would repeal an Affordable Care Act provision that defines a full-time employee for health-insurance purposes as working 30 hours or more a week.
Cantor said this would lead to lost hours and income.
“What that means is let’s roll back the regulation under Obamacare which has taken the 40-hour workweek down to 30 hours,” he said. “If you just restore that, you are adding 25 percent to the wage earner’s paycheck.
“Those people making minimum wage who would benefit from that would almost be made equal to that which the president is calling for under his minimum wage hike,” Cantor said.

Chris Matthews is no longer getting a thrill up his leg as election-time nears.

Tingles thinks the Senate is going Republican...

Cancel the 2014 Elections, Chris Matthews Has Given Up On The Senate

    Video at the Page Link:

This morning on MSNBC, Chris Matthews gave his prediction for this fall’s Senate mid-terms, referring to Republican David Jolly’s special election victory in Florida:
“It’s going to be very hard to hold the Senate — I think the Senate goes. I think we heard from the Ghost of Christmas Future this week; they’re going to lose the Senate”
He also gave Democrats advice on how to mitigate the damage, by saying they need to use exaggeration and fear-mongering get tough. His examples:

    • If they say entitlements, you say they are going after Social security and Medicare
    • If they say voter suppression, you say they’re going after minorities
    • If they say they are against abortion, you say they are coming after abortion rights

This is not surprising, except to maybe some timid Republican leaders. The phrases “reach across the aisle” and “moderate discourse” will also be used in prodigious quantities, but the reality is that Democrats will play very rough and wage all-out war. Their battle-plan is for annihilation and they will obviously say anything to cling to power.

Republicans better be prepared for a Democratic campaign of distraction, deflection, and negative attack ads. Staying positive and laying out a constructive program of how to improve things for Americans could be keys for the GOP in 2014.

Chris Matthews: Dems Could Lose 10 Senate Seats This Year

By Brian Carey on February 23, 2014 Subscribe to Brian Carey's Feed@brianmcarey

Usually when Chris Matthews opens his mouth, it’s to say something asinine.
Obviously, we’re not big fans of Hardball since Matthews went clinically insane. That actually used to be a pretty good show, but that was back in the 90′s.
Lately, Matthews is just a hack for the left-wing cause du jour. In that respect, he just parrots Democratic talking points and pretends the Font Of All Virtue™ gushes from left-wing academia and evangelists who preach the gospel of redistribution.
He fits right in at MSNBC.
Today on Meet The Press, Matthews said something that wasn’t as hackish/stupid as usual, but still hard to believe. He made the claim that the Democrats could lose 10 Senate seats this year.
No, that’s not a typo. We didn’t mean to type “House seats.” He really said “Senate seats.”
He said that a “rosy” scenario for the Democrats is to lose only 5 seats. This, of course, assumes that the Republican candidates running this year can avoid telling everyone that rape is pretty cool or some similar nonsense. We wouldn’t bet against that.
Still, Matthews shills for the American left like they’re the ones who are ushering in the Millennium. If he is looking at the current political climate and determining that Democrats could lose 10 Senate seats, and he’s willing to admit it on national television, that’s something that definitely piques our interest.

Chris Matthews Thinks Democrats Have Already Lost The Senate (VIDEO)

    Tom Kludt – March 13, 2014, 10:11 AM EDT | 6979

Chris Matthews dispensed some hard-nosed political advice on Thursday to Democrats — the party that's closest to his heart and in desperate need for some encouragement.
When Republicans talk about entitlements, Matthews said Democrats should "tell the voters they're going after Social Security and Medicare."
GOP-backed efforts to require voter ID, Matthews said, should be described as voter suppression of minorities.
And voters should be reminded that pro-life candidates are "coming after abortion rights."
"You've got to get out there and put a very strong, bold picture on what the Republicans would like to do and say that's what they're going to do," the MSNBC talking head said on "Morning Joe."
And although that might help Democrats salvage a few seats in the House, Matthews is pretty much convinced the party's majority in the Senate is as good as gone.
The outcome in this week's special election in Florida, he said, does not augur well for President Obama's party.
“It’s going to be very hard to hold the Senate — I think the Senate goes,” he said. “I think we heard from the Ghost of Christmas Future this week. They’re going to lose the Senate."
The commentariat overwhelmingly declared David Jolly's victory over Alex Sink in Florida's 13th congressional district to be a bad omen for Democrats. The district voted for Obama twice, and polls early in the race showed Sink with solid leads.
Republicans, meanwhile, have been eager to characterize the race as a referendum on Obamacare, but Karl Rove urged his ideological brethren not to oversimplify Jolly's win.
Matthews isn't one to shy away from prognosticating. Last August, he predicted that Rand Paul will be the GOP's presidential nominee in 2016.
"You watch," Matthews said confidently. "This is what I do for a living."
He's also wildly misfired, predicting that Michele Bachmann would win the 2012 New Hampshire primary and that Rudy Giuliani would be elected president in 2008.
