The new school year will soon be in session, and according to USA Today, possibly overcrowded. Federal law mandates that all children enroll in public school this fall—including an estimated 50,000 undocumented immigrant children. As the border crisis comes to the classroom, states are rushing to prepare by hiring more teachers and even opening new schools.
