To The Editor: What illegal immigrants cost Americans annually:Welfare and social service -- $90 billion.Food assistance programs (food stamps, WIC and free school lunches) -- $2.2 billion.Medicaid -- $2.5 billion.Primary and secondary school education for children here illegally who cannot speak a word of English -- $12 billion.Education for American-born children of illegals (anchor babies) -- $17 billion.Percentage of all federal inmates who're illegals -- 30 percent.Suppressed American wages caused by illegals -- $200 billion.Illegals have a crime rate that's two and a half times that of legal whites.In 2005 there were 4 to 5 million illegals crossing our Southern borders -- 19,500 from terrorist countries. Millions of pounds of drugs (cocaine, meth, heroine and marijuana) crossed into the U.S. through the Southern border.In 2006 illegals sent $45 billion back to their countries of origin.Nearly 1 million sex crimes are committed by illegals.The National Policy Institute estimated mass deportation would cost between $206 and $230 billion -- average cost of between $41 and $46 billion over a five-year period.Lowest estimate -- annual cost of illegals is $338.3 billion. Enforcing our immigration laws results in savings after the first year.We spend $15 million daily for incarceration.

Being as its such a no-brainer you'd think politicians would be able to relate!!

They don't care. All they car about is the almight buck and they don't care how they get it. There is also the NAU to consider. Why spend the money closing the border etc. when they plan to reopen it for the NAFT highway. Actually, it is ROn Paul for president. NOt only will he close the borders, he will abolish the IRS, abolish the Federal REserve. Get government out of our business etc. He will bring ALLLLLLLLL of our troops home, not just IRAQ. That will save us 70% of the budjet and will help bring down our over $3 trillion dollar defecit.
