Targeting illegal drivers
Council will weigh resolution opposing car impound measure

The Denver City Council will raise a proclamation tonight that would express opposition to a ballot initiative that asks Denver voters to authorize police to impound cars driven by illegal immigrants.

Spearheaded by Councilman Paul Lopez, the proclamation is the first in four years that asks the Council to oppose a citizen’s initiative, according to Kelly Vélez, City Council secretary. On July 12, 2004, the Council voted to oppose an initiative that would have banned all circuses in the City and County of Denver.

Lopez said the Council should oppose Initiative 100, which voters will see in August, because it is unnecessary and would place a strain on police resources. He already has the support of his colleagues Councilman Rick Garcia and Councilwoman Judy Montero.

I wish they would do the same in Florida. It is really disguisting here with the illegals on the road. They use their licenses from back where they came from as they cannot get one in Florida or get a fake international one. Highway Patrol usually gets alot of them and calls ICE on them as they are still allowed to do so. Some departments arrest them and then they get out of jail and are not deoprted.
