Jan 22, 2010 9:04 am US/Eastern Customs Agents Nab Jail Escapee, Others From Haiti
SANFORD, Fla. (CBS4) ― CBS

Haitian people have been trying to flee the country since last week's devastating earthquake. Now, several people using fake documents at a central Florida airport have been stopped by U.S. Customs agents as they arrived on flights from Haiti.

Seminole County Emergency Manager Alan Harris says one person stopped was a Haitian prison escapee. It was not clear if he had escaped from a jail that collapsed during the earthquake. He was taken to a secondary holding facility in Miami and will be deported to Haiti.

Another man had an outstanding warrant and was being held at the Seminole County Jail.

By late Thursday, more than 50 flights from Haiti had arrived at Orlando Sanford International Airport and were expected through the night as part of Operation Safe Return.
