U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter (08/04/2010)

Border Patrol agents seized over 8,794 pounds of marijuana. Agents arrested ten criminal aliens and eight gang members. There was one rocking incident.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a juvenile United States Citizen (USC) and seized an Infiniti Q30 near Calexico, California. The juvenile attempted to pick up two suspected illegal aliens in his vehicle but fled the area when agents approached. The subject subsequently drove into a ditch, disabling his vehicle.


Houlton Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a national of Haiti near Robbinston, Maine. Records checks revealed the subject had an active arrest warrant for capital sexual assault issued in the state of Florida.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Gu Vo, Arizona. During processing, the subject claimed he was robbed at gunpoint by his smuggler. Records checks revealed the subject had several criminal arrests and had been previously removed from the United States. The subject’s claim of robbery was referred to the appropriate authorities for investigation.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Cotulla, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang member. Records checks revealed he had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Why, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Fort Hancock, Texas. The subject was identified as a member of the Los Paisanos gang.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Laredo, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject was a Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang member and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,765 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the trailer and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.

San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Chile near Boulevard, California. During processing, the subject claimed that bandits assaulted and robbed him at gunpoint upon illegally entering the United States. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States. The subject’s claim of assault and robbery was referred to the appropriate authorities for further investigation.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents assisted local law enforcement officials in apprehending a USC suspected of burglarizing a residence near Sunsites, Arizona. Agents encountered the individual hiding in a shed after he absconded from local law enforcement officers.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for lewd and lascivious acts with a child and had been previously removed from the United States.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 974 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) and a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas. The subjects presented themselves for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the trailer and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Sureño gang member. Records checks revealed the subject had a criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents assisted local emergency medical services in the rescue of a lost and injured hiker who had fallen into a 100-foot deep mine shaft near Las Cruces, New Mexico. Agents rappelled into the shaft and rescued the injured hiker. The injured hiker was transported to a local hospital for treatment.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,246 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested an illegal alien from Cuba near Hebbronville, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A search by agents revealed the marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested three illegal aliens from Mexico near Ajo, Arizona. Records checks revealed all three subjects were gang members and all three had criminal records. Each subject had also been previously removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sunland Park, New Mexico. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Barrio Azteca gang member. Records checks revealed he had an extensive criminal history, to include narcotics trafficking, robbery, and sex crimes. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Miami Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 12 pounds of marijuana and an SUV following a vehicle stop near Dade City, Florida. As the driver yielded to agents, he fled on foot and was subsequently arrested. A search of the SUV revealed the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 3,608 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the trailer and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.
