A Republican running for Congress in Nevada has a new campaign ad that includes imagery of Chinese soldiers marching on the U.S. Capitol.

Republican Mark Amodei is running in a special House election in Nevada.
CAPTIONBy Cathleen Allison, APMark Amodei, a former chairman of the Nevada GOP, was tapped this weekend to be his party's nominee in the 2nd Congressional District. Republican Dean Heller vacated the seat after he was appointed to the U.S. Senate.

"Once upon a time, America became its own worst enemy," says the voice over for the ad, which shows images of a Chinese anchorwoman reading the news. "When all their borrowed money ran out, they kept spending out of control. Their President Obama just kept raising the debt limit -- and their independence became a new dependence. As their debt grew, our fortune grew -- and that is how our great empire rose again."

Amodei is seen at the end of the ad, saying, "It's not too late to stop this nightmare." Amodei vows he'll never vote to raise the debt limit.

Nevada Democrats will meet soon to pick their nominee for the special election, to be held Sept. 13.

More than $1.1 trillion of U.S. debt is held by Chinese investors, according to the U.S. Treasury Department.
