NAPS Organization Marches on AL Capitol
About 200 college students and others from Huntsville went to Alabama's Capitol to raise awareness for the children that may be affected by the new law on illegal immigration now that it has taken effect.

MONTGOMERY, AL -- The National Association for the Prevention of Starvation is taking a stand against Alabama's law on illegal immigration.

Students from Oakwood University in Huntsville say they want to represent those who are not able to represent themselves - the children.

So they stood on the capitol steps, bearing signs and singing songs in unity as they presented their questions about the law.

"We work with children in those communities and a lot of them are afraid. Many of them are American, but they're really afraid about what's gonna happen to their parents. They're crying to us. So as their mentors, our hearts were really breaking. So we said what can we do as young people?" said NAPS organizer Mia Pile.

Members say children are already being affected by the law. Hundreds of children throughout Alabama have been absent from school since the law took effect.

Although the organization says they are not against the law on illegal immigration, they say they will continue to speak out for human rights and ask, "what about the children?"
