After hiatus, McCain vows immigration plan again

After hiatus, McCain vows immigration plan again
Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor September 22, 2008 11:05 AM

Speaking to an Irish-American audience this morning, John McCain used his strongest language of the general election campaign to grab again the mantle of comprehensive immigration reform.

In Scranton, Pa., he vowed to push through a plan that offers a path to citizenship to illegal immigrants who pay fines and fulfill other requirements. "This nation is stronger for the infusion of fresh blood and vitality," McCain said.

McCain soft-pedaled that backing for comprehensive immigration reform during the Republican primaries, when he was savaged for coddling illegal immigrants. He said that voters would not support such a plan until the borders were made secure.

The plan he championed, and that also had President Bush's support, failed to get through Congress last year. McCain highlighted his cooperation with Senator Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts and other Democrats on the issue.

While he reached across the aisle and bucked elements of his own party, McCain said, "Senator Obama took a hike" and has never stood up to his own party leaders.

Amnesty John is at it again. I knew he would return to his beloved amnesty scheme after the primaries. He has learned nothing, and based on his history will never even secure the border.

Our country is falling apart, we're being asked to pay for a bail out that our government was responsible for, we're losing our homes, jobs and just about everything else, and McCain still thinks we need to give amnesty to 15 million people who we have already been supporting. He is a total Moron!

This is exactly what's happening in this country. Except, they are not asking our permission for a bailout! They are going to do it with or without our blessings...

The return of McAmnesty the Democrat Suck-Up
By Michelle Malkin • September 22, 2008 11:42 AM Ugh.

Sorry to spoil your Monday morning, but John McCain is off to a cringe-inducing start this week. While Sarah Palin is galvanizing the conservative base and attracting tens of thousands to her rallies, John McCain is…

*Pandering to the open-borders lobby again. At a rally in Scranton this morning, he was bragging about the shamnesty bill again and revisiting the “path to citizenshipâ€

Got that right......can't wait to hammer every last nail in our coffins.

I knew he'd never give it up.........Palin rallied the troops but I don't think even she has the power to get people to soften up to McCains stance......not like things are now. It really sucks because Obama is sure suicide and I'm afraid there's not enough to carry someone else and risk Obama getting in.

As much as I wish to pretend McCAMNESTY is not the head of a ticket it is NOT true, better off placing our support behind the Senators and Congressmen who will support United States Citizens against the invasion. Either presidential candidate from the two “majorâ€

He says that he learned a lesson. The only lesson he learned is that he thinks we are suckers.

If McCain should win the election, it will "prove" to him that he can steamroll anti-illegal immigration conservatives and members of his party -- not to mention the vast majority of Americans who oppose amnesty if the question is posed to them honestly. He would likely (dishonestly) even claim that he has a "mandate" for mass amnesty. Thus, there is no way I can or will vote for him.
