    AMNESTY IMMIGRATION BILL ON CPR?

    Barbara Anderson
    June 12, 2007

[quote]In a flagrant disregard for We the People, the president and his chosen senators are meeting to see how they can ram through the amnesty bill that was defeated just last week. The inclination of some of the Republican senators and even more of the Democrat senators was to let this bill go through without close scrutiny by the electorate. Nonetheless, the electorate was informed enough to know that this was a giveaway to illegal aliens and their supporters, big business and big labor, along with the Hispanic lobby.

Now, the president has planned to attend the weekly Republican policy lunch on Tuesday, the first time he has so honored them in five years. That alone shows his disinterest in the party’s week-to-week plans and problems. He does not sound as if he is mending fences, however. He shows his hubris when he announces that he’ll see us at the bill signing. To say that the president has a political tin ear would be an understatement. Before the bill was pulled the president scolded his base, telling them that anyone who opposed the amnesty didn’t have the best interest of the country at heart.

The amnesty bill was conceived in secret and bypassed the customary committee hearings, where many of the amnesty provisions would have been brought out in the light of day so that the electorate could see just what was in it.

Instead, we were presented with a fait accompli and told to take it and shut up. Enough were not willing to take it and shut up and began letting their senators know the anger and distrust of those elected senators. It was perhaps the best example of grassroots activity since the Dubai Ports giveaway.

The whole idea of a bill being needed is bogus. We have a system that deals with immigration. The legal immigration side is still being honored, with those wishing to immigrate having to stand in line and go through the bureaucratic hoops our laws demand. Many have been waiting years. They do this to obey our laws and show respect for them, instead of demanding they be sent to the front of the line.

The illegal immigration side is what needs attention. The attention it needs is a strict adherence to the laws duly set forth by We the People through our elected representatives, who take an oath to protect us from dangers, foreign or domestic. Illegal immigration falls into both categories. We are in an invasion, relatively peaceful so far, of our country and the destruction of our sovereignty. We are also witnessing the degradation of our social structures as the invaders demand the benefits of our social welfare agencies, which have been carefully built up to help the most vulnerable among us. Those benefits are under assault, leading to a watering down of the lifeblood of some of our neediest citizens. When the pie is sliced so thin, nobody gets very much.

After bringing forth an amnesty bill of several hundred pages, the aforementioned cabal demanded it be adopted, pronto. For a bill of this size even a cursory reading would take some time, and the details even longer. When some of the senators began really reading it, they became convinced it was a flawed bill, with its emphasis on how much we can give to the amnestied, and how little we can insist our borders are secure and how to stem the invasion.

The grassroots opposition was fierce and apparently unexpected. Some of the pro-amnesty senators lamented that the talk show hosts were stirring up the electorate and giving false information. They never said just what exactly was the false information, but they tried to discredit the many who were speaking out and dissecting the bill as it became public. That information was what was stirring up the electorate. Blaming the messenger became the defense of the cabal.

These talk show hosts did their best to inform and suggest solutions to the invasion. While there were many, an example was Lars Larson, of the Portland, Oregon area. He had a simple solution. The solution proposed by Larson was that the IRS refuse letting businesses claim the expense of their workers as deductions, if the submitted workers’ Social Security number did not match the IRS data. In other words, if an employer wanted to claim the expense of a particular worker, that worker’s Social Security number had to match what the Social Security Administration had for the worker. Simple. No match, no deduction. Larson said the idea was not an original one with him, that he got it from somebody else. Nonetheless, Larson used his considerable public voice through his programs to publicize the idea. Along with the sensible solution, Larson offered reasonable objections to the bill being fast tracked through the Senate. Were it not for the information from talk shows and the internet, most of the American public would not have had the information it needed to form an opinion of the amnesty bill.

There are other simple solutions that have been present all along. The simple solution of just enforcing our present immigration laws would get rid of the problem.

It is against the law to enter this country without our permission. It is against the law to take up residence here. It is against the law to work here. It is certainly against the law to steal or “borrowâ€
