Every morning of every day of the year, a group of men, many of them Latino immigrants, gather in front of the 7-Eleven market in Kings Beach to wait for work.

A black cap shading his face, Victor Santos sat against a tree in a vacant lot opposite the convenience store Monday morning. His eyes followed each passing car.

Santos said he’s hired about once every three days, mostly for construction-type jobs. He said he makes around $15 an hour, most of which he sends back to Mexico to support his two sons and wife in Oaxaca, a state in Mexico’s south.

The group of 30 men — the number can vary from 10 to 50 — arrives around 7 a.m. every day, said Daniel Garcia, another hopeful in search of work. They wait three or four hours. If no work has come by late morning, the group disperses.

Send them back to there home countries...problem solved
Never look at another flag. Remember, that behind Government, there is your country, and that you belong to her as you do belong to your own mother. Stand by her as you would stand by your own mother

Legal residents can work for temp agencies. We don't need day labor sites.

No sob stories. If they are in the country illegally, deport them. Our communities should not be degraded by presumably illegal aliens stalking street corners. We have no idea who these people are, much less their backgrounds.

    The legality of it all
Deputy Hunt said Placer County Sheriff’s are not actively looking into the day laborer’s legal or illegal status. Deputies have no reason to ask for identification unless an individual is committing a crime, Hunt said.
They are committing the crimes of trespass and loitering if they are unlawfully hanging around the parking lot. If an officer makes a traffic stop and upon running your drivers license discovers there is another charge against you he will arrest you. This is another instance where they are conveniently carving an exception to cater to the illegals.

"The workers are loyal customers who come to the market everyday,"

To BUY THEIR BEER!!!!!!!!! Then they can drink it up, drive DUI, and kill a few citizens.

If I lived in that area, and lost a family member to one of the beer-guzzling drivers, and I found he was buying his booze at that store........I'D SUE THE HELL OUT OF THE OWNER!
