Senate Bill to enable local law enforcement

Alert! Senate Bill will enable local law enforcement of immigration laws!

State and local law enforcement officers are on the front lines of combating crimes committed by illegal aliens, but they are often hampered in their efforts.
S 2717 - the Effective Immigration Enforcement Partnerships Act of 2008 - by Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), clarifies the authority of state and local law enforcement agencies to investigate, identify, and apprehend illegal immigrants to enforce federal immigration laws.

This is what bothers me about new laws: we already have laws that are not being enforced. More laws to me means, "Let's push the anti-illegal immigration proponents back one more step." To me, more laws is just more talk.

Enforcement = Laws + Political will

If there is no political will, which we would all agree, there is not, then there will never be enforcement of ANY law-case in point is the Ramos/Campeon Johhny Sutton debacle-where were the laws and the political will in this situation-no where, therefore there was no enforcement.

My thinking is this.....You're absolutely right about our existing immigration laws not being enforced. We have big businesses IE B of A and the like saying " We're not in the business of enforcing immigration laws". passing the buck, don't ya know, as a way of getting away with breaking our laws ! It was actually a small bank in Wisconsin, I think, who saw the IA's as a source of untapped $$, so they openly invited the IA's to COME ON IN ! They're the ones who got that particular ball rolling. Because the Fed's won't enforce our laws, sanctuary cities abound. That effectively ties the hands of local law enforcement IE " Special Order 40" in LA, CA, in that a PD officer can actually lose his job if he dares to question a persons legal status. States like Okla and AZ and others have been successful in passing new laws that will override sanctuary cities at the local level, and enable cities and states to ENFORCE our existing immigration laws. Sheriff Joe Arpiao is a great example of taking matters into his own hands, to do the job the Fed's won't do. On the other hand, we have San Fransisco and LA as extreme examples of what happens when a city has a far out Liberal in control of things. Sanctuary cities are AGAINST our immigration laws, and by law, they should be cut off from receiving any state and federal funds. A precedent is set with each new law passed at the local level. Since the Fed's won't do their job, the fight starts at home. There's an old saying "You Can't Fight City Hall".... The hell we can't !

RE; Ramos and Campeon. Sutton is in Bush's pocket.....he was appointed by Bush. They go way back. I think Glen Beck is right on when he says they're, Ramos and Campeon, are the first political prisoners. Clearly the prosecution (persecution) of the two border patrol agents was a fear tactic used to keep other border patrol agents from doing their jobs. Bush can't enforce our immigration laws IE the border remains wide open, because he's already given up our sovereignty to Mexico. That's my opinion.
