The members of 9/11 Families for a Secure America are appalled that N.Y. Governor Paterson will pardon aliens convicted of state crimes in order to shield them from deportation.

Joan Molinaro whose son Carl was NYC firefighter killed on 9/11 while attempting to rescue WTC victims said: "Because all members of 9/11 FSA are either the victims of crimes committed by aliens or survivors of victims have to speak out on their behalf and state our opposition to the Governor's insane plan."

Retired NYPD officer Bruce DeCell, father in law of Mark Petrocelli, a WTC victim said: "People from other countries who come to the United States have an obligation to obey our laws. Our laws should apply equally to all, but Paterson's intention to pardon criminal aliens creates a specific privileged class of criminals who are above the law. And to be eligible for the privilege a criminal has to be a non-citizen; criminals who are citizens 'need not apply.' We oppose mass pardons for any class of lawbreakers, citizen or not."

Ed Kowalski, uncle 17 year old Elizabeth Butler, the victim of rape and murder by an illegal alien said: "Paterson's special pardons for criminal aliens is a kick in the teeth to every American who has been the victim of an alien criminal. His plan is a vicious attack on the memory of my niece and other victims. The Governor wants to specifically create a special privilege for a what seems to be his favorite type of New Yorker, criminal aliens.

Kowalski continued: "Evidently, Gov. Paterson thinks the inscription below the Statue of Liberty should read: 'Give me your outlaws and predators, yearning to begin a new life of crime in America.'"

We who have been the victims of criminal aliens in terrorist acts or in street crimes demand stricter enforcement of immigration law, not its defiance by politicians looking for votes.
