Teen Questioned In Death Of Newborn
Sorry I posted this in the wrong area. Meant to post in the "Other News" area.
Police picked up a 14-year-old girl for questioning Tuesday in connection with the death of a newborn baby in the Bronx.
Police think the teen is the mother and fear she threw the baby from a fifth floor window of her apartment building at the Eastchester Gardens Housing development.
Police were called to the housing development shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday.
When they arrived, they found a Hispanic baby girl, weighing about 7 lbs. 6 ounces, with the umbilical cord still attached, in a grassy area outside the building.
Police sources say the baby could have been thrown from a window sometime Monday night. They say more than likely the baby was born alive.
The infant was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. The medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death.
Neighbors were visibly upset. One woman who lost her daughter two years ago in a drunk driving accident says she cannot understand why a person would harm a child.
"Every time I hear it, it hurts. It breaks my heart, it does. Every time it happens, it breaks my heart, because I can't have my kid and you're getting rid of your kid," she said. "Every time it happens, it hurts to know somebody could do that, and knowing that mine died and that these people just don't care. Anytime I hear it, I hate those people. I hate anybody that kills their children."
"Whether she was young or stressed out, it doesn't matter. That was a life that she took," said a neighbor. "That baby came out and took a breath; it has a soul. It's just uncalled for."
"I saw the cops when they came running. And I said, 'what's going on?' And they said someone threw a baby out of the window. And I said, 'get the hell out of here man.' It was just like that," added another neighbor. "And they said, 'that's what it is.' And they asked if I had seen anyone here that was pregnant. And I said, 'no, I haven't seen anyone pregnant. Not in my section anyway.'"

It seems to be the Hispanic method of abortion. Here in the Central Valley of California, you can find Hispanic babies in toilets, dumpsters, and in the fields. What do you expect when teens are having babies as if it is the norm.
