THE IFIRE INFORMER

May 25, 2006 was a dark day in American history. Our own U.S. Senate flipped us off when they passed a sweeping amnesty/immigration reform bill, S. 2611.

What are we going to do about it? Give up? No! That only guarantees the other side will win.

There is a story, often told, that upon exiting the Constitutional Convention Benjamin Franklin was approached by a group of citizens asking what sort of government the delegates had created. His answer was: "A republic, if you can keep it." The brevity of that response should not cause us to under-value its essential meaning: democratic republics are not merely founded upon the consent of the people; they are also absolutely dependent upon the active and informed involvement of the people for their continued good health. Read the entire article here.

Can you keep it?

The other side thinks they have us cooked. You all know how to cook a frog, right? If you put a frog into boiling water, he’ll just jump out. But if you put him in cool water and gradually turn the flame up, he won’t realize he’s being cooked until it’s too late. The pot of cool water was the 1986 Amnesty. Since then, the heat has gradually been turned up. Twenty years and twenty million illegal aliens later, we are nearly done. If

S. 2611 survives the conference committee and becomes law, the American Middle Class will wake up to find itself in boiling water.

Actually, I prefer to picture us as the frog in this cartoon. It looks like we’re beaten, almost eaten, but if we can just hang on long enough, we’ll escape this disaster.

What we’re going to do here is to follow Chef Emeril Lagasse’s recipe for success and, “BAM! Kick it up a notch!” Frog’s legs are banned from this menu. We’re cooking the greedy political pigs who have sold us out to corporate and global interests. Whatever you’ve been doing, do more. If you’ve been doing it by yourself, recruit some friends to join you. If you have done nothing but rely on others to do it for you, you must get involved now! The future of America, your children and grandchildren are at stake!

I admit the recipe for success is kind of like having leftovers for dinner every night. I’m getting sick of it. But until we come up with a better plan, this is it! Besides, the alternatives are pretty ugly. Since most of you know what I’m going to recommend and are already doing it, I’m going to put the ingredients of the recipe at the end of this newsletter. There are more important points to be made.

Know Your Enemy.

Here is what La Raza wanted out of comprehensive immigration reform:

1. Creates an earned path to citizenship for the nation’s undocumented immigrants;

2. Reunifies close family members in a timely manner;

3. Restores and respects civil rights and due process protections for immigrants; and

4. Protects the wages and working conditions of immigrant and native-born workers.

Isn’t it interesting that “our” Senators gave them even more than they ever imagined in their wildest “American Dream?” The illegals have representation without taxation while citizens have taxation without representation.

Here’s what a student group at delaraza.org demands:

(1) FULL LEGALIZATION (NO TO HR4437 AND ITS CONTEMPORARY, THE HAGAL-MARTINEZ COMPROMISE, AND NO TO KENNEDY-McCAIN – NO TO AMNESTY, WHEN WE HAVE A RIGHT TO WORK AND LIVE WITHOUT APOLOGIZING TO ANYONE FOR THE EXCERCISING OF THIS RIGHT – FROM NORTHERN ALASKA TO SOUTHERN CHILE WE ARE AMERICANS WHO DO NOT RECOGNIZE COLONIALLY IMPOSED BORDERS – WE WILL NOT PAY RETROACTIVE TAXES, WHEN WE HAVE BEEN PAYING TAXES SINCE WE HAVE BEEN IN THIS COUNTRY: EVERY TIME WE BUY FOOD, CLOTHES, AND GAS, EVERY TIME WE PAY RENT AND UTILITY BILLS, EACH AND EVERY TIME WE MAKE A PURCHASE)

(2) NO MILITARIZATION (NO TO THE MILITARIZATION OF THE AMERICAS – NO TO THE ALLOCATION OF NATIONAL GUARDS TO THE U.S. MEXICANO BORDER – NO TO JROTC AND ROTC – NO TO THE INCARCERATION OF OUR COMUNIDADES – NO TO POLICE BRUTALITY – NO TO THE DISPROPORTIONED MILITARY RECRUITMENT OF OUR CHILDREN – NO TO U.S. INTERVENTION/OCCUPATION OF FOREIGN NATIONS)

(3) NO RESPRESSION (WE ARE ENTITLED TO ORGANIZE AND EXPRESS OUR RESISTANCE – WE HAVE A RIGHT TO EDUCATE OURSELVES AND DETERMINE OUR HISTORY – WE DO NOT ACCEPT THE UNITED STATES’ SYSTEMATIC PRACTICES OF FORCE AND AGGRESSION – WE ARE FAMILIAS, NOT CRIMINALS)

(4) RAZA STUDIES NOW (WE DEMAND AN EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM THAT EMPOWERS US, BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN DIS-EMPOWERED – WE DEMAND PROGRAMS WHICH ADDRESS THE PROBLEMS WITHIN OUR COMUNIDADES, BECAUSE AN EDUCATION MUST ADDRESS THE CONTRADICTIONS PLAGUING US AS RAZA - OUR HISTORY MUST BE LEARNED IN THE CLASSROOMS, BECAUSE WE ARE NOT PILGRIMS AND DID NOT CROSS THE ATLANTIC ON THE MAYFLOWER)

Read the whole delaraza.org mission statement here

The whole enchilada!

They want everything. Passage of S. 2611 is only the beginning of their ever increasing, never ending demands. They want even more rights than natural born Americans and legal citizens have plus forgiveness for their crimes! Allow them to get citizenship and they will vote to undo whatever enforcement measures we begin. There can be no amnesty or pathway to citizenship. Never.

Common ground?

We agree with the National Council of LaRaza statements highlighted in red:

“It is important that the Senate move forward on comprehensive reform, but it is more important that the Senate get it right.”

“If Congress cannot enact legislation this year that is both comprehensive and workable, then it would be better for Congress to pass no bill at all.”

Remember this: the Senate and the President are not operating in good faith. They have no intentions of securing the borders or stopping illegal immigration. They only want us to think that they do.

I admit I forgot this when I heard Rep. Charlie Norwood’s plan for dealing with the illegals who are already here. I sincerely want to resolve the illegal immigration problem. Unless the Senate and President share my goals, it is naïve to think the problem can be resolved while they still hold power. That’s why these Temporary Guest Senators must be replaced!

Congress fooled us when they promised us Amnesty + Enforcement in 1986. They forgot the most important part of the equation! We won’t be fooled again!

We knew for certain that most Senators were acting in bad faith when they added the requirement that the U.S. must confer with the Mexican government before constructing any walls or fences on our side of the border. They don’t care that CIRA will break the budget by as much as half a trillion and increase our total population by one third (100 million) in 20 years. The elites don’t care because the American middle class will bear this burden, not them.

Attention: U.S. House of Representatives! Passage of this Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act (CIRA) means the end of this country as we know it and it means the end of your careers. It doesn’t matter what good things you’ve accomplished in the House up to this point and it won’t matter what you do after CIRA because we’ll be finished as a sovereign nation! If you let this bill pass, you will pay with your job, just as we have paid for your failures with our jobs.

Senate Majority Leader, Frist is a doctor who should ask the Senate to follow the Hippocratic Oath and, “…first, do no harm.”

Take note, all Democrat and Republican legislators: The only way you can please everyone (this includes your base and future Hispanic voters) is to DO NOTHING!

We the People

Our leaders have let us down. It is time for “We the People” to take the lead if we wish to keep this republic.

Our leaders said we could never stop the flow of illegals over the border. The Minutemen proved them wrong.

Our leaders said a wall could never be built. The Minutemen proved them wrong.

The government says it is impossible to deport the millions of illegals who live here. We will prove them wrong.

Read this great article by Ian de Silva called How to Deport 10 Million Illegal Aliens. He writes about the ICE raids at IFCO locations in 26 states including one in Indianapolis, IN. After those raids, the illegals working in Seymour and Columbus, Indiana were nervous. A new group of immigration reductionists in Seymour passed out informational flyers about their group. This added fuel to the rumor that la migra was coming even though no such statements were made in the flyers. Hundreds, if not thousands, of illegal aliens ran off their jobs in the middle of their shifts, abandoning their cars and scaling fences to run off into the woods to escape. The next shift had hundreds of no shows. Illegal alien’s children were kept home from school. Illegals called their mothers in Mexico to tell them to cook more food because they were coming home. Illegals disappeared, never to return. Americans were suddenly hired on the spot. Read the story here. The point is, a little bit of enforcement can go a long way and the American people can help it along.

For example, the snopes.com message board tells a story of concerned citizens in the Washington, D.C. area who were upset by all the litter thrown on the ground at a construction site. Getting no relief from the contractor or from the government, they formed their own group called Inner Neighborhood Services wore dark blue T-shirts and caps with gold INS lettering on them, and picked up the litter. It seems that 46 out of the 68 construction workers thought they were from Immigration and Naturalization Services and didn’t report for work. I know Hoosiers are concerned about having litter-free neighborhoods, too. How does Indianans for a Clean Environment sound?

The new group in Seymour is called CHOICE but their only relationship to abortion has to do with terminating legislators from office who vote for amnesty.

U.S. Representative Soudrel is the keynote speaker at their rally on June 11th. Other speakers include Greg Serbon, State Director and co-founder of IFIRE and Bill Strong, Director of CHOICE and a soldier who recently returned from Iraq, among others. There will be music and soft drinks. You’ll be able to discuss illegal immigration and possible solutions with knowledgeable people and pick up information on the topic. Please attend and make this event a success!

We’ve got trouble! Right here in Indiana! That’s Trouble with a capital “T” and that rhymes with “P” and that stands for Pence! Yes, sir, U.S. Representative Mike Pence, a member of the House Immigration Reform Caucus, has taken a wrong turn. You need to convince him to abandon his “Amnesty with a vacation” plan. You can read his speech to the Heritage Foundation in which he sets forth his plan here:

Liberal Tamar Jacoby of the Manhattan Institute supports Pence’s Plan. If that isn’t enough reason for you to oppose it, read what Rep. Tancredo has to say about it. And if that still isn’t enough to convince you, read these two articles on VDARE. One is by Bevens and the other is by Rubenstein.

A crucial part of our recipe for success includes stopping Pence. IFIRE members who live in his district can help us all by visiting his district office to convince him of the folly of his plan. All of us should be calling and faxing his offices.

As if that’s not enough, we have more trouble, this time with a capital “B” that stands for Burton. The word just in from Numbers USA is that Indiana Rep. Dan Burton is jumping on the Amnesty/Guest worker bandwagon, too! His plan would force employers to make their illegal workers register with a new DHS agency or the employers could face $50,000 in fines per illegal worker. Sounds good, huh? Why are we supposed to believe this law would be enforced? Illegals who register would get “temporary” status and start paying taxes. But, if they learn English within a year (many of these illegals have been here since the 1986 amnesty and should already know English), they can apply for legal status (jump to the front of the line) and if not, they go through hearings (if they can be found) to be deported. This sounds pretty permanent to me.

Hammer Rep. Burton’s offices, too! IFIRE members who live in his district, need to make personal visits to his office, in addition to calling and faxing.

As I wrote above, it really doesn’t matter if these congressmen have done good jobs in the past. Aiding and abetting passage of CIRA with all its budget-busting, population-exploding, sovereignty-destroying problems will lead to the downfall of America.

IFIRE news

IFIRE is adding a discussion forum to our website in the next few weeks. We are really excited about this! It will make it easier for you to talk to your friends and neighbors about what is going on in your own neighborhood. For example, IFIRE Chapter leaders in Lafayette and Indianapolis will be able to discuss local happenings with you. It will allow us to share more photos and discuss real solutions to the illegal immigration problem. If you would like to get more active in your home town, it will provide you with a place to get together with like-minded people from your community and decide if you want to start an IFIRE chapter or ride together to a rally or protest in another town. There is not enough money in IFIRE’s checking account to pay for all of this. If just a few of you would donate $10-$20, we could easily meet our goal. IFIRE doesn’t charge any membership fees. We hope you will help us do a better job of fighting illegal immigration by helping us with a donation. Checks payable to IFIRE may be mailed to P.O. Box 297, Valparaiso, IN 46384 or you may visit www.ifire.org and donate online through PayPal.

Regretfully, IFIRE is no longer Indiana’s Minuteman Chapter. We were initially told that we could be a chapter without IFIRE members having to pay the $50 background check fee until such time as an IFIRE member decided to participate with MCDC by going to the border. We have now been informed that we can only remain a chapter if we asked hundreds of IFIRE members to pay this fee now. We can’t do that but we will continue to work with the Minutemen.

Indiana politics

Here’s a list of Indiana Candidates up for election. Incumbent politicians around the country are finding out that Americans mean it when they say they’re mad as hell and they’re not going to take this betrayal any more. John Fund’s opinion piece covers Pence, Cannon and other politicians who were unseated due to their pro-illegal actions while in office.

Senator Lugar betrayed us by voting for S. 2611. He is on the list and was unopposed until recently. So far, Independent Rick Hale and Libertarian Steve Osborn have stepped forward to offer us a choice. Both of them agree with us on illegal immigration. Please support them. We hear a 3rd candidate, who is also excellent, will step forward soon.

Another politician who must go is U.S. Rep. Julia Carson. Her immigration report card is as bad as Lugar’s. You may read the newspaper account of this race here. From speaking with him, GOP candidate Eric Dickerson, shares our views on illegal immigration. We asked him to complete ABI’s immigration survey. Please visit his website and support him.

Remember to check out Pence’s opponent (Welsh) and Burton’s opponent (Carr) on the above list of Indiana Candidates.

Recipe for Success:

Call, write and fax your U.S. Representative on a daily basis. There’s no lack of topics to discuss. Every day brings with it some new illegal immigration outrage. Tell Congress they don’t need to pass any new laws but they must immediately secure the borders and enforce current immigration laws. We were promised enforcement in 1986 but never got it. We want it now! Tell them you’d rather have no comprehensive immigration reform legislation than to have them pass an abomination that will only make matters worse. No amnesty ever! No new “guest workers” until the current 12-20 million leave!

This is a do or die issue! It crosses party lines. The very existence of our country depends on what you do now. Illegals get amnesty, employers get amnesty, and senators not facing reelection get amnesty. What does the American middle class get? Screwed! Again! Who has been paying all the consequences since 1986? We have! Who will pay even more if the Mother of All Amnesties passes? We will, unless you act now and convince everyone you know that they can no longer afford to sit back and let a relatively small group of us risk our lives and treasure while they do nothing! They must help us now or we all perish!

I don’t know who wrote this but this synopsis of where we are SAYS IT ALL! If you read nothing else, PLEASE read this:

Let Senators who voted for S. 2611 know how you feel about their vote. Send both Bayh and Lugar the “SHAME!” fax I sent you recently.

Here’s something new making the rounds. Now, you can find email addresses for Congressional staffers at this link.

Call any U.S. Senator or Congressman by simply phoning the toll free number 1-888-355-3588 and asking for them by name. Here’s a place where you can find contact info on your representatives.

The next time your friends complain about illegal immigration, hand them a flyer and encourage them to do something about it. I can send you flyers with this information on it.

If you haven’t signed up at www.NumbersUSA or www.FairUS.org, do so now.

If you’ve never written a letter to the editor, now’s the time. Since many newspapers limit writers to one letter per month, some of us who like to write have written extra letters that you could put into your own words and submit under your own name. Contact IFIRE if you’re interested.

If you’ve never called talk radio, now’s the time. Help steer people to www.ifire.org so we can help them get involved.

Check our blog to see if there are any upcoming events you can participate in. Sacrifice a couple of hours and attend a rally or a protest.

There are many good blogs and message forums. Start posting comments on them and help teach others how to get involved. Tell them about good immigration websites.
