Maybe he was testing to see if the guy spoke English. I hate to say it but there is nothing worse than going out to eat and giving someone your order and having them repeat it and you have no idea what they said or if they got it right; should you ask or wait and see what you end up with?

I am so sick of dealing with people who don't speak our language. I'm henceforth refusing to do any business with anyone who doesn't speak English. Period.

I do not deal with anyone who does not speak english and have not for years. When they say to me learn spanish I tell them that I am an American and we speak english if you cannot do that go back where you came from.

It does irk me as well, and I wouldn't order from someone who can't understand or speak English to me.

As to not learning Spanish, I fully understand the thought and I don't speak Spanish either. I'm old, however, and it will matter very little in a few years.

One thing we must know and be prepared for, they will not be leaving in the numbers we want. I doubt we have a clue how many our government has already given citizenship.

For that reason, it would be very beneficial to know Spanish. Already, many employment ads either say 'bi-lingual a must', or 'bi-lingual a plus'. Economically, it will be very good for anyone younger who will be working for the years to come.

Also, I get the creeps when there are many people around speaking some language I don't understand. It could be dangerous. Usually, I'll just elbow my husband and he knows to listen if it's Spanish, but if it's other, I just remove myself.

As hard as it is to swallow and I've expressed my opinion on this before, but I think if you want to prepare your children to live in the US of tomorrow, they will benefit from knowing Spanish.
