Border Patrol confiscates 2,247 pounds of marijuana in separate cases.

LAREDO, Tx.- Border Patrol officials stay busy in the war against drug traffickers in this region, after seizing 2,247 pounds of marijuana in separate cases.

In the first case, 134 pounds were confiscated at an inspection booth on highway 1017 that takes you to Hebbronville, when a man arrived in a tractor trailer.

A trained canine gave alert that gave way to a more thorough inspection. Agents found 40 packages inside the trailer valued at 107,240 dollars.

In the second case, 315 pounds of marijuana were seized in south Laredo when Border Patrol agents found 4 abandoned bundles at the rÃ*o Bravo bank, valued at 252,000 dollars.

In the third case, 482 pounds of marijuana were confiscated at the inspection booth on highway 16 in east Laredo, when a trained canine gave alert towards a boat that was being towed by a truck.

Officials found 167 packages of narcotics in a secret compartment valued at 385,600 dollars.

Finally, 269 pounds of marijuana were confiscated when a truck arrived at an inspection booth on highway 16 in east Laredo.

A trained canine detected the 53 packages valued at 260,000 dollars.
