RIO GRANDE CITY - A smuggler is on the loose, and thousands of pounds of marijuana are off the street. Authorities say a cloned vehicle was used to move the drugs, but something wasn't right.

What wasn't right is what got Border Patrol’s attention. A fake DirecTV vehicle was being used to transport drugs. Border Patrol spokesperson Rosie Huey says an imperfect logo caught an agent’s eye. Something was misspelled.

A Border Patrol agent attempted to stop the driver of the vehicle. The smuggler sped away. The chase ended on a back road in downtown Rio Grande City. The smuggler fled into the brush on foot. Authorities found the 2,300 pounds of marijuana he was moving.
