PHOENIX - The Department of Public Safety announced the arrest of a suspect in a 2007 gang-related murder, along with 23 other people suspected of gang activity.

According to a Friday night news release from DPS, Corey Garner, 26, of Phoenix was arrested for the murder of 17-year-old Daniel Ramirez.

Officials say the operation, called "Justice in Paradise" came out of an investigation into the north Phoenix gang that started as a "party crew" in 2006. Over time the party crew reportedly transformed into a criminal street gang, going from hosting parties to armed robberies, home invasions, aggravated assaults, narcotics sales, burglaries, and trafficking in stolen property, drive-by shooting, firearms and weapons violations and homicide.

Authorities say members of the gang have been involved in a steady stream of crimes from 2006 to the present.

The 24 suspects were taken into custody as a result of cooperative efforts of the Arizona Department of Public Safety's State Gang Task Force, the Phoenix Police Department and the Scottsdale Police Department, according to DPS.
