Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson defended his immigration plan during Wednesday night's Republican debate, but his explanation only got him into further trouble with some voters.

Carson supports giving guest-worker status to millions of undocumented immigrants without criminal records.

"After we seal the borders, after we turn off the spigot that dispenses all the goodies...people who had a pristine record we should consider allowing them to become guest workers primarily in

the agricultural sphere," Carson said. "If they don't do it within that time period then they become illegal and as illegals they will be treated as such," he said.

Carson said his plan is not amnesty because farmers cannot find American workers, which prompted criticism from some social media users who perceived the remark as suggesting

immigrants can only do farm work.

Carson has edged closer to Republican frontrunner Donald Trump in recent weeks. A recent poll found support for Carson has jumped to 23 percent, up significantly from the six percentage points Carson had before

the first presidential debate in August. That puts Carson at just about 4 points below Trump.

The former surgeon has seen support surge among conservatives as he has come out as a strong opponent of government funding for the reproductive rights organization, Planned Parenthood, and has taken up

other conservative causes.

He is seen as a political outsider given that he had no prior experience in elected office. A recent poll in New Hampshire found that only about a quarter said experience in politics was a "very important political

consideration," whereas 83 percent said bringing "real change to Washington" was important to them.

Carson and Trump have clashed in recent weeks as both have brought into question the other’s religious sincerity. Carson has been noted for his considerably calmer demeanor than the flamboyant Trump, who has

frequently lashed out at his political rivals. Carson has come under scrutiny recently after it was revealed he used aborted fetuses for medical research, despite his stance against abortion and Planned Parenthood.

There was a graphic break down with % in a post a few weeks back showing they have many more job fields than just farming. Not just construction either but white collar jobs. All the big companies have a large amount of hispanic and indian workers - Comcast etc.. In having an order problem with Amazon.com, my customer service agent was speaking to me from costa rica, they also had illegals delivering packages too. Hate to use Amazon, mega bucks and they use dirty energy sources, cheapest electricity they can find and the web, cloud storage uses a lot of energy.

Ben Carson retired from years on the Board of Directors of Kellogg Corporation in May of 2015, immediately before he announced his run for President. That's why he always talking about the agricultural jobs for illegal aliens. Kellogg buys a lot of grains, fruits, milk, and other farm items for their products and enjoys the lower prices for their products.

Well, Kellogg, sustainability includes sustainable livelihoods for American Workers. It means paying wages and benefits to American Workers to help grow your lovely products we all enjoy. Buying products from farmers handled by illegal aliens is not sustainable corporate responsibility. It's selling out the American Worker and bankrupting the United States.

NO MORE KELLOGG PRODUCTS FOR ME, until I see a statement on your website in the corporate responsibility section that guarantees you will not purchase products from any farm in the United States that hires illegal aliens.

I can not think of any other reason why Ben Carson would support illegal aliens or be whining about agricultural jobs UNLESS, he's just a stooge for Kellogg Corporation and is running for President to sign amnesty into law.

Carson is not only anti-Woman, he's anti-American Worker, anti-American business and if you ask me, has absolutely no understanding or compassion whatsoever for black Americans who are still suffering from racial discrimination and its consequences. Ben Carson may have been a good doctor once, but being a doctor has absolutely nothing to do with being a good President. In fact of almost all the professions from which one could choose a good political leader, in my opinion, the medical community in general would be the last place to look. For example, more than 200,000 Americans die in US hospitals every year from medical malpractice and hospital error. Any wonder the AMA lobbies for "tort reform" to prevent and limit by law the rights of victims to hold them accountable for their mistakes and actions that hurt and kill people? No, no wonder at all. And how do they fight and defend themselves in the few cases that make it to a court room? They lie.

Senate chokes on Monsanto's poison pill

This past week the Senate Agriculture Committee held its first hearing on biotechnology in 10 years and what we heard was appalling. Rather than an honest dialogue on the merits and risks of GMOs and the need for new common sense regulations, the Senate Ag committee decided to run a show trial for Monsanto that whitewashed GMOs. For more than three hours, both Senate Republicans and Democrats repeatedly praised GMOs, regurgitating Monsanto talking points, such as the myth of “feeding the world” and that GMOs were perfectly “safe”, while intentionally ignoring the growing number of independent studies that point to real and potential harm from genetically engineered foods.

Even worse, several Senators and expert witnesses dismissed the recent International Agency for Research on Cancer’s declaration that glyphosate, the main chemical ingredient in Monsanto’s bestselling weedkiller, was linked to cancer in humans.
