Three New York teenagers have been charged with a series of deadly muggings that left one victim dead and another in a coma.

Two of the teens told police they were living on the street and robbed and killed for food, the New York Daily News reported.

Yovanni Rivera and Marcos Polanco, both 17, were identified after investigators traced the use of one victim's credit card, the News said. Herman Gonzalez, 19, surrendered Friday, NY1 reported.

All three have been charged with robbery, and Rivera also with murder. Police say Rivera was nicknamed Nyquil because of his skill at knocking victims out.

Police believe the group was responsible for at least 10 muggings in Flushing Meadow Park in Queens between Nov. 22 and Christmas.

Most of the victims did not resist, the News said. Carlos Flores, a 40-year-old immigrant from Ecuador, did and was allegedly killed by Rivera with a machete and dumped in a lake in the park on Dec. 4.

Jae Woo Park, a graduate student in engineering, was beaten on Christmas Day and remains in a coma, police said. He was not identified for several days because his wife and daughter were in South Korea on a visit and friends thought he was busy writing his dissertation.
