Man caught with box cutters at airport

A man allegedly attempting to smuggle steel shears, box cutters and spare cutter blades onto a Salt Lake City flight bound for Lima, Peru, on Thursday was charged in U.S. District Court on Friday with carrying a weapon on an aircraft. Ruber Mario Dulong-Montoro, 65, was detained by Salt Lake City International Airport police after a security screener physically searched his carry-on luggage and found the objects wrapped in foil and duct tape. The man was arrested by special agents with the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail. FBI spokesman Bob Wright said while Dulong-Montoro was not planning on carrying out a terrorist act, he was
attempting to conceal the items - which he said were Utah souvenirs - and smuggle them on board. On Friday, Dulong-Montoro appeared before U.S. District Judge David Nuffer, who set his detention hearing for Tuesday. Dulong-Montoro will be arraigned on the charge April 1. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison. - Lisa Rosetta

Dulong-Montoro said the items were 'Utah souvenirs'. Oh, okay. It's a perfectly good excuse. This is really scarey. This is why we have to fight to keep these people out!
