IOWA CITY (AP) - Immigration agents have arrested seven people this week near the small north-central Iowa city of Hampton.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Tim Counts says the five men and two women were fugitives who were previously identified as illegal immigrants and given a voluntary departure order by an immigration judge. The immigrants ignored the order and remained in the country.

Six were arrested on Monday at Iowa Select Farms near Hampton. A seventh was arrested at a Hampton residence on Wednesday.

Counts described the arrests as "low key," and says none of the alleged fugitives tried to flee. He says ICE is trying to determine the men and women's country of origin.
