Arpaio to Gordon: "Don't Take Shots at the Sheriff"

A war of words has erupted between Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon and the Sheriff Joe Arpaio over a hot button issue - immigration.

It started this week when Gordon told News/Talk 92.3 about a human smuggling bust involving Phoenix police. "Sheriff Arpaio, he's acknowledged that he's arrested 500 undocumented aliens. This one operation alone resulted in 2,500 aliens being turned over to ICE and deported," said Gordon.

That statement prompted Arpaio to cry foul. "I think Phil ought to get his facts straight," said Arpaio.

"And don't take shots at the sheriff. 'Cause I don't take shots at him which I could do, believe me."

Arpaio says the mayor's numbers are way off because they've nabbed 850 human smugglers on top of all of the illegal immigrants they've identified.

Gordon seems to me like a typical political hack...sleazy. He did nothing but aid & abet illegal immigration for years and even did nothing after a high profile killing of a Phoenix police officer by an illegal alien last summer. Finally, when he saw it was politically expedient ha made some movement recently toward enforcement but it may yet turn out to be token.

Does anybody have an email addy for sheriff Joe? I would like to thank him for everything he has done.
