    Hit-And-Run Under Investigation In Gresham

    Hit-And-Run Under Investigation In Gresham

    UPDATED: 3:55 pm PDT October 15, 2010

GRESHAM, Ore. -- A 62-year-old man suffered serious injuries when his car was heavily damaged in a hit-and-run crash in Gresham.

The crash happened at Powell Valley Road and Kane Drive at 2:31 p.m. Friday. A Gresham police spokesman said the driver of a black pickup truck left the scene of the collision and was last seen heading west on Powell Valley Road.

The hit-and-run driver is described by police as a Hispanic man who is about 30 years old. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Gresham Police Department.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was rushed to a hospital by a LifeFlight helicopter. His current condition is unknown.

Note: this a VERY local to me (just around the corner), and it is highly suspect as to why the driver fled the scene, and his status. I live in this local area and there is almost no chance he is legal.

I remember when Gresham was upper middle class, not so very long ago. Now it's mexico from 82nd and Powell all the way out to Gresham. That's one of the reason's we left. Portland and Oregon period has been a sanctuary city and state for 40+ years. My good friend. I worked with for years was hit and killed by a drunk driver around that same area he was walking on the sidewalk. I miss the big mountains, rivers, and ocean. But I don't miss the sanctuary cities. They started showing up here just before I got here and now the same thing is happening here. Here is where I make my stand come Nov. I'm sorry for the sadness this has brought you. I grew up in Forrest Grove and Gaston so I dealt with drunk driving illegals for as long I can remember. And they're here now. DHS installed secure communities program here a couple of weeks ago. Before they install it only serious illegal offenders were picked up. Now since they installed SC they've been picking them up for minor traffic violations. I'm waiting to see how many are deported if there's any way to find out.Sorry AE

Steve, I grew up outside of Sandy (towards the mountain) and the only outsiders we saw in the summers were the people coming over from Warm Springs to get some work, and that was when they used to let us kids pick the berries. Now it is all illegals, in fact Steve, all the berry fields that came all the way from Sandy thru to Gresham are all gone now, replaced by nurseries who employ pretty much only illegal aliens. Steve, also Hillsboro is bad too, I heard one local DJ on KGON refer to it as "Hillsburrito".

It is so sad, so many changes, and none of them good.

It truly is sad what the state of Oregon has become it's where I spent most of my life, I thought I would miss it terribly, but I don't. If it gets much worse here I won't miss this place either. I spent many a summer night in Sandy from the time I was 13 the whole state was my playground, I lied I do miss Oregon I just miss my job more. I tell roofers here that I learned to roof in the Mt. Hood National Rain Forrest I don't think they made the connection. Again I'm sorry for your sadness, hopefully come Nov. we'll see some change for the better. It's been along time comin'

Steve, hopefully, we have a good chance at Chris Dudley (Republican, former Blazer player). Kitzhaber is trying to run again, although he did no good for us for 8 years before.

Seems, Oregon has been plagued by liberalism for so long now, many who are conservative feel they have lost their voice so completely, they have given up and backed down. People like myself have been pushing conservatives they know to wake up and start fighting for Oregon again, so we can flourish like we once did.

We need jobs back, we need our logging industry to thrive again, and so much more that can happen here, we have SO many resources.
