Lou Dobbs Tonight
Friday, November 16, 2007

Lou’s new book INDEPENDENTS DAY is now on sale in bookstores
and on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com. In Independents Day,
Lou issues a rallying cry to American citizens eager for a
change, focusing particularly on the critical issues and
challenges of the 2008 election.

Lou Dobbs Tonight is on the road all week, reporting on the
issues that matter to middle class Americans around the
country.

Tonight, the Democrats’ war funding bill—which would have
required immediate troop withdrawals—fails in the Senate. But
the Republicans’ counter-offer fails as well. Will funding run
out? We’ll have that story and all the day’s news, live from
Palm Beach, Florida.

Florida is the epicenter of mortgage fraud – one of the main
reasons that Florida leads the nation in foreclosures, along
with California and Ohio. Mortgage fraud may have cost U.S.
consumers more than $2 trillion. Now an FBI task force in Miami
is investigating. We’ll have a live report from Palm Beach.

Osvaldo Adlrete Davila, the alleged Mexican drug smuggler who
was set free in the case of former Border Patrol Agents Ignacio
Ramos and Jose Compean, was indicted yesterday on multiple
counts of marijuana smuggling. This development comes on the
heels of the latest push by some members of Congress to free
Ramos and Compean. We’ll have a special report.

The Bush administration and the Chamber of Commerce are upset
that China is ordering inspections of medical supplies imported
from the U.S. Of course, China applies no such scrutiny to
itself. We’ll have the story.

The Silver Star is the fourth highest that can be awarded to a
member of any branch of the United States Armed Services. Only
three have been given since the 9/11 attacks. In our weekly
tribute to the men and women who serve our nation in uniform,
we’ll bring you the story of one of them -- Staff Sergeant
Jason Fetty.

And, we'll be joined by three of the best political minds to
discuss last night’s Democratic presidential debate and all the
stories in this week’s news: Ed Rollins former White House
political director, Robert Zimmerman, Democratic National
Committeeman and syndicated columnist Miguel Perez.

year from now will be an Independent populist, a man or woman
who understands the genius of this country lies in the hearts
and minds of its people and not in the prerogatives and power
of its elites.
