    Demographics and Destiny

Make sure your kids learn to speak Spanish, folks, because the USA is fast becoming Hispanicized. There will come a time – and a not too distant one – in which it will be a severe disadvantage in many parts of the land not to be fluent in Spanish.

To wit: Los Angeles voters have elected a Latino mayor, city councilman Antonio Villaraigosa, who ousted incumbent James Hahn and thus became the City of Angels first Hispanic mayor since 1872.

Demographics are destiny, and the election of Villaraigosa a demonstration of the demographic reality of the Los Angeles area, which is more and more Latino. Millions of Mexicans have flooded into California by means both legal and illegal, and they have now demonstrated their electoral power.

Remember the billboard ad for a Latino TV news program? The one that crossed out “CA after “Los Angeles, replacing it with “Mex? It caused a nationwide fuss, but after all is said and done; it was a simple statement of onrushing reality.

The Reconquista of the lands taken from Mexico in the middle of the 19th century is well underway. Those who deny it are either oblivious to it or disingenuous about it.

Our political leaders and their media lapdogs tell us that there is no reason to worry about these trends; after all, this is a nation of immigrants, that they are net contributors to our social well-being.

Truth is, there’s plenty of reason to worry. Consider the fact that in California, which is the largest state with a majority non-white population, about half of Latino and black students fail to graduate from high school. The cost to taxpayers of this massive exodus of students before finishing the 12th grade is estimated in the billions of dollars because of resultant higher unemployment and higher crime rates.

The die is cast, and proof of that is in how politicians are adjusting to the situation. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is airing television ads in which he speaks Spanish to reach Latino voters. U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez was the featured speaker at the Capitol Hill Gala of the National Council of La Raza, which means, “the race, a Hispanic advocacy group that opposes any proposal to curtail illegal immigration.

Democratic Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut addressed the same gathering in Spanish and told them he supported the so-called Dream Act, which would give illegal aliens cut-rate, in-state tuition at American colleges and universities.

Couple this with President Bush’s preternatural eagerness to obliterate our border with Mexico and his willingness to ignore the wishes of the vast majority of his citizens on this matter, and you begin to understand that what’s happening in California is a harbinger of what’s to come for the rest of us.

Yeah and the new mayor of Hollyweird got 25% of the hispanic vote, up from 22% in the 2001 election. CALIFORNICATION is the first to fall. Will your state be next
