ROGERS -- A Rogers man turned himself in to police Thursday in connection with rape and residential burglary.

The Rogers Police Department was in the process of talking to acquaintances of Luis Enrique Garcia-Campos, 26, of 2007 1/2B S. 13th St. when his attorney contacted police, Det. John Oldfather said.

Police received a call on Jan. 19 that Garcia-Campos had broken into a home at 908 N. 29th St. and raped a woman in her early 20s, according to the affidavit to obtain an arrest warrant.

Garcia-Campos attempted to tie up the woman, put something in her mouth to make her be quiet and held her down on her bed and raped her, police said.

The woman struggled with Garcia-Campos and told police she was able to scratch and cut Garcia-Campos, according to the arrest warrant. Police were able to collect blood drops on the floor, mattress and a single razor blade the woman used to cut Garcia-Campos' forearm.

An arrest warrant was issued on Feb. 1 and a friend of Garcia-Campos told police he may have returned to Mexico on Jan. 27. Garcia-Campos told the friend he was in "a lot of trouble," according to the arrest warrant.

Garcia-Campos was being held Friday in the Benton County Jail in lieu of a $150,000 bond and had a hold for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
