    Fighting the Term Resident Alien

As we are all aware that the media and many others call illegal aliens undocumented workers, migrants, or foreign nationals. What I find disguisting is that legal resident (those with green cards) are still referred to as resident aliens. The State of Florida has it right on their DMV website. I am personally going to fight this. This is unjustifiable as those people followed immigration laws and therefore deserve to be called legal residents rather than resident aliens. I am going to go to the media with this. The first person I want to contact locally is Joyce Kaufman as she has a talk show and is against illegal immigration. I will then take it to other media members.
If anyone has any suggestions let me know. I guess now my true identity will surface but it is worth it.

Go for it, swatchick! This battle needs to be brought nationwide! The PC speak, or whatever garbage they throw out there are "truth according to Jose, the illegal", not truth according to "Joe the Plumber".

Alien is just another word for foreign national. They are not citizens.

Want to call them resident foreigners?

I just don't think we sould give too much power to the word alien. It is, what it is. 14th century. Directly or via Old French < Latin alienus < alius "other"]

    Resident Alien means Resident Other.

I have friends from Liverpool Eng. who have lived here in America since the early 1980s, and they still go, when required to get their visa[s] up to date. They still retain their British Subject status, and they refer to themselves as resident aliens. They find nothing wrong with definition or term, and they actually find it rediculous that so many people are upset by the use of the term resident alien, or for those who are, illegal alien.

Their attitude is if people have enough time to argue over a label, then they have too much time on their hands. And if people come to America illegally by border hopping, they are wrong, and as they would say, a disgusting lot.

I realize that resident alien is a legitimate term. What bothers me is that you can't use illegal alien when it come to border jumpers but you can call legal immigrants resident aliens.

No don't get confused by terms. "Legal immigrants" are people who have lawfully, emmigrated to the United States of America, and have rescinded their former status be that a citizen, or a subject of another nation. They have sworn alliegence to the United States of America. So calling them legal immigrants is really silly by definition.

A "resident alien" like my friends, have come to America, but they retain their status for their nation of origin. Hence the need to keep their credentials up to date so they are not deported.

An "illegal alien" is someone who is a border jumper that has no alliegence to the United States of America. They have no desire to either. That is why they live in the shadows in fear, and have been demanding special treatment, which is horsedung.

So to refer to them as illegal immigrants is incorrect. The use of a dictionary will explain the definitions better than I have just now.
