Rally Targets Illegal Immigrants

Illegal immigration was the target of a protest in Centennial Park Thursday night. A counter-rally had been planned, but it was canceled after a prominent member of Nashville’s Hispanic Community died.

Radio talk show host Phil Valentine organized the rally at Centennial Park, called Demagnetize Tennessee.

Valentine said the point of the rally was to make the state less attractive to illegal aliens.

“It's time for us to crack down on this problem and let these people go somewhere else, so that we can get back to spending money on people who are supposed to be here,� Valentine said.

The planned counter-rally was canceled after Greg Rodriguez, who was the president of the Tennessee Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, died.

Rodriguez died Wednesday night of a heart attack.
