NPR: Liberia Unable to Absorb Thousands of Returnees
Liberia Unable to Absorb Thousands of Returnees
Listen to this story... by Renee Montagne and Ofeibea Quist-Arcton
Morning Edition, August 23, 2007 · If the Liberians on "temporary protected status" are forced to go home, what would they go back to? Liberians elected Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Africa's first woman president, nearly two years ago but she has faced huge challenges in trying to get Liberia on its feet. Fourteen years of conflict left the nation a near wreck.

Note: Michelle Malkin has good coverage of TPS (Temp. Protected Status) in her lead story for today (8.23.07) here (as it relates to one of the NJ student murderers):

I was just reading up on this. The Liberians have been here since 1991! I would think after 16 years they would have saved some money and/or accumulated some assets that would help them get settled back in Liberia. All this money coming into Liberia would help get them back on their feet. I suppose to help out the US could give them a free plane ride home.
What we really need to do is get rid of the Central Americans here on TPS due to Hurricane Mitch which was 9 years ago!Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
