Border Patrol update

Here’s a look at recent activity of note by the Border Patrol:



Casa Grande station

Agents were processing an illegal immigrant from Mexico on Wednesday when fingerprint records revealed the man was convicted of child molestation. He was held for processing.



Ajo station

Agents arrested an illegal immigrant Tuesday identified as a Brown Pride gang member. During processing, fingerprint records indicated he had been convicted of assault with a deadly weapon. He was held for further processing.



Nogales station

Agents, responding to a request for assistance from the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, located human skeletal remains in a local canyon Tuesday. The remains were turned over to the U.S. Forestry Service.


By the numbers

From Oct. 1, 2009, through Jan. 31, Border Patrol agents in the Tucson Sector discovered 57 deceased individuals and rescued 55 others from the Sonoran Desert. The Border Patrol stands ready to be called upon to assist with rescue and recovery operations while performing its mission of securing the nation’s borders, the agency said.
