June 25, 2007 03:12 PM PDT
New information has come to light about the man accused of the leaving the scene of Sunday's deadly Gulfport wreck.
According to Harrison County's online docket, Raymoundo Rojas Garcia was arrested just one week earlier for a misdemeanor DUI offense. He was also cited on June 17 for speeding, failure to yield, not having a driver's license, and not having insurance
The online records indicate Garcia paid a fine for those violations two days later and went home.
The online docket lists Vancleave as Garcia's home address. It says he's 27-years-old.
Sunday, witnesses told police Garcia was the driver of a car on Highway 49 that slammed into a motorcycle.
Wayne and Michelle Hughes were on the motorcycle. They both died from head injuries sustained during the collision.
The charges against Garcia in the June 24 accident include a felony leaving the scene of an accident causing death, and misdemeanor charges of not having a driver's license, not having insurance, not having a car tag, and failure to yield.
Gulfport police confirm the border patrol is investigating whether Garcia is in the country illegally. He'll remain in custody under a border patrol hold until that can be determined.
